The state of dissociation, where someone is in a state of separation of feeling, thought and even the body, is usually experienced by people who have gone through a traumatic experience, seizure, or excessive drug use.

Scientists have discovered a way to induce this state by firing a group of brain cells at a frequency similar to that of one in a dissociated state. So far, they have successfully done this with mice that had been given ketamine and similar drugs to induce the dissociated state.

This research will help medical practitioners come up with ways to manage dissociation without the use of drugs.

Ketamine and other similar drugs have been used as a therapeutic path for those suffering from depression. This new approach could be a solution that avoids the risks of potential addiction or dependency by patients.
