10 Tech Facts to Wow Your Friends: A Casual Guide to the History of Technology

Guys! I thought I would share with you 10 interesting facts about technology that I recently learned. Technology has come a long way and it's always fascinating to look back at its history.

Did you know that the first computer was the ENIAC? It was developed in the 1940s and weighed over 27 tons! Can you imagine that? Back then, computers took up entire rooms.

Speaking of computers, the first successful computer virus was created in 1982. It was called the "Elk Cloner." It's crazy to think about how far technology has come since then, but also how important it is to protect our devices from viruses and other forms of cyberattacks.

The first Apple computer, the Apple I, was released in 1976 and cost $666.66. Who would have thought that Apple would become the tech giant it is today?

Have you ever heard of the first mobile phone? It was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X and was released in 1984. I remember my first mobile phone and how huge it was. Nowadays, we have phones that are so small, they fit in our pockets!

The World Wide Web was created in 1989 by** Sir Tim Berners-Lee**. Can you imagine life without the internet? I certainly can't.

The first social media site, _Six Degrees_, was created in 1997. I remember when social media was just starting to take off and now it's a huge part of our daily lives.

Do you remember the first time you made an online purchase? Well, the first online purchase was made in 1994. A man bought a pizza for delivery from his computer! How convenient is that?

The first YouTube video was uploaded in 2005 and it was entitled "Me at the zoo." Can you believe it? Nowadays, we have access to countless videos on all sorts of topics.

The first iPhone was released in 2007 and has since revolutionized the smartphone industry. I remember when iPhones first came out and now they're so ubiquitous that it's hard to imagine life without them.

Lastly, in 2020, remote work became widely adopted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a significant increase in the use of collaboration and communication technology. Who would have thought that we would be able to work from home and still be connected to our colleagues and clients?

Well, there you have it! These are just a few interesting facts about technology that I thought you might enjoy. It's amazing to think about how far technology has come and how much it has changed our lives.
