Quantum Supremacy Has Arrived
And it changes everything.
It'll take a few years but once these machines are working the way they want them to... we'll have spectacular breakthroughs for some of the world's biggest problems. I know, that's a big dog-gone statement.
But just to give you an idea of how powerful they are..Google has a small one that they ran a test with. They gave it a task that would take the world's most powerful supercomputer, (Summit) 10,000 years to complete.
Their little quantum computer completed the task in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. That's why many are using the phrase "Quantum Supremacy."
When I say "little," I mean in computing power, not in size. These things are big. And look totally alien!
What IS a quantum computer?
I was reading about quantum computing the other day and I don't understand them but the digital computers that we use today have two states for each transistor..0 and 1. Manipulation of those states is what makes computers work.
But quantum computers can be in many states, not just two. This makes them exponentially more powerful than even the most advanced supercomputers.
Which is why they'll be able to solve some of our most impossible problems. They'll be able to sift through millions of documents and take in super complex data which our digital computers just can't handle.
Security as we know it today will be useless when the quantum computers come online. They say military grade security for our most important systems will be able to be hacked in a fraction of a second.
So a new type of security will have to be invented. And lots of companies are already working on it.
One of the most exciting areas for quantum computing..
is healthcare and disease prevention. Cancer's goin down. So are many other diseases.
I believe the combination of using artificial intelligence and quantum computing will allow gene-editing researchers to wipe out cancer and Alzheimer’s.
I think it'll be awhile before they come out with pocket-sized models!

They're already starting to identify and cut out mutations in the DNA code which lead to disease. With these two technologies together they'll be able to replace the mutated code with healthy code, thus eliminating the risk of deadly diseases.
Just think of cancer and Alzheimer’s being eliminated. From what I've read we could see that within ten years.
I think we're at the dawn of a new age in health, wellness, and longevity. That is if all the bad stuff doesn't kill us first!
Of course the power of these new computers scare some people to death and that's a concern too. What do y'all think, we'll be okay until they become self-aware?

lol..I know, it's a scary thought but alot of people think AI is very dangerous because of that, Elon Musk is one of them. I don't think they'll get to that point though. The Bible doesn't talk about a war against machines as far as I can tell!

I agree. I think that's the reason Elon Musk was warning about AI, he thinks they could do a Terminator number on us!

imo Greed is the basis for most if not all of the woes of the earth right now.
Now matter what conflict, whether it is Al Shabbab in Somalia, Taliban in Afghanistan,
all of these places and groups are greedy for things they don't have and want to get it by any means,
no matter who gets hurt.

Imagine how fast the Steem Blockchain could replay on a witness node powered by a quantum computer (if it was written in any form of code that was decently scalable...)

IMO, the biggest issue with AI and quantum computing, (they will always work together once perfected), is that humans are totally incapable of creating an artificial intelligence that has absolutely zero human bias.
It simply cannot be done, but they'll work hard to convince you it is free of human bias.
The people (corporations) working on this are already known to have an incredibly overflowing amount of bias, especially when it comes to the way we humans live.

The scariest, and most predictable move will be their tactic to convince people that to question the "knowledge" of the AI/Quantum "god" is heresy. Then they'll make a law that says disagreement with the AI/Quantum god will get the disagreeing person a swift execution.
Because "Who among us is worthy, and can therefore DARE question the most intelligent entity known to mankind?"
