FB Buys A Company That Lets You Control Your Phone With Your Mind

avatar
(Edited)

Or something like that. At least that's the goal. Facebook is ramping up their AI and virtual reality division and just bought Ctrl-Labs for a billion dollars!

It's a company that has a mind-reading wristband whereby you can think about doing something with your hands and the signals from your brain are converted to digital actions.

Crtl-Labs are neural scientists who've made alot of progress in the field. Great news for people who are paralyzed or have missing limbs, the technology is advancing nicely.

1 Billion dollars is a major investment and Facebook has some major goals.

Look Ma, no hands!

They say the wristbands will be "instrumental in developing new ways of interacting with machines without needing traditional mouse-and-keyboard setups, touchscreens, or any form of physical controller whatsoever."

Holy Smokes! What year is it? This sounds like futuristic stuff but they're saying this mind control of computers or put another way..mind and computer interface is coming soon!

AND without implants or chips in the brain. Ctrl-Labs says their wristbands are much more effective than using implants and chips.

Here's the CEO of Crtl-Labs, Thomas Reardon, with their current model:

source

They say you have to concentrate real hard to get the "hands" on the screen to do what you want but it definitely works. But with Facebook's AI and Virtual Reality divisions teaming up with Crtl-Labs I think startling progress will be made.

Here's a closer view of a prototype wrist band:

They say eventually the wristband will look like a watch. The world is changing fast! It that exciting or scary?

If you can learn to control your computer with your mind, will you be able to control someone else's computer? Or they yours? We're going to have to have mind control blocking security for all our devices!

Thanks for reading folks, God bless you all!

A truck inspection every 120 days?? jeez. And how much does that cost? What does the inspection entail, is it another racket, or joke?

Haaaaa..... FMC$A. = Fed Motor Carrier $$$$afety$$$ Assoc.

Ju$t another big bloated Gov. Agency. Lining their pocket$ in the name of $afety.....

8 out of 10 truck accidents are caused by smaller vehicles. Every year it is so.... Statistics do not lie.

So what does FMC$A do..... More truck regulations. That should fix everything right..... Smfh.

Only if things need repaired. I try to fix things B4 they are bad enough to fail you on an inspection.

Landstar pays for inspection if you pass them. But Landstar also takes .35 cents of every dollar i make.......

Whats with all those Freaky Birds in your town...?

It make me recall a comment made by Danish computer scientist Bjarne Stroustrup:

"I have always wished for my computer to be as easy to use as my telephone; my wish has come true because I can no longer figure out how to use my telephone."

lol! That's brilliant zirochka! Well I think they are going to make things more and more user friendly. In some cases we won't need to know anything except how to turn it on, then just think about what we want to do with it! I think it's almost scary.

Yes I wonder how long it will take? Probably just a couple years! Things are changing fast. lol.
By the way, Ukraine has been in the news alot lately since your president was talking to Trump at the big summit in Europe. That comedian guy.

Well I can certainly think about some minds that I would love to hack. Most of life's problems can be solved by placing the right decisions into the powers that be's computers. Orders such as ban plastic, ban trading in animal, ban hunger, share all resources and, and, and,....
Blessings!

At first the corruption needs to be eradicated Sir @janton, as that will release the funding for what it was meant for. Social development.
The freebies also need to be stopped as it only creates entitlement.

On a smaller scale it must give hope to so many handicapped people. I've seen people in nursing homes who were unable to push the controls to adjust their own beds and they can't operate the remotes to change channels on the TV. Love the sculptures!

Mornin’ Cowboy! Technology is moving ahead in leaps and bounds the last few years. I like the mind control feature. Maybe eventually we can just think something and it will happen.

We will, of course, change physically - we don’t have to use our physical body to move around and do things. We will then have big heads and small bodies.

lol! We'll look like aliens! Well I was thinking the opposite, that we'll finally have time to take care of ourselves and work out. But maybe I'm being too optimistic. You're probably right. lol.

Howdy sir bigsweed! Thanks for dropping by! I agree, I mean I'm excited for people who have lost limbs and for quadriplegics and so on but the technology is always used for nefarious purposes too it seems!

Just remember that Facebook's ultimate goal is complete dominance. People will get the chips imbedded in them and then Facebook will be able to make them think advertisements. You know how it is, you're walking down the road and all of the sudden you get a song stuck in your head? Well, now you'll be walking down the road and thinking, "I really need a Coke product."

The realm of mind-computer interfacing is pretty fascinating, though. I wonder if it will ever get to the point where you don't really need a screen or interface. We have been able to project an image into a human brain for over a decade already, although that first one was pretty rudimentary. There was a guy who lost his sight and volunteered for an experiment. They grafted wires into his eye somehow (optical nerve, probably) and used a camera to stimulate the attached nerves. He said it was like looking at an 8x8 pixel image, but he could see.

Amazing stuff sir fotosdenada! Yeah I know about facebook, I was tempted to get into the evils of fb but didn't want a long post. lol. In just ten years we won't believe what will be possible I'm sure with the exponentially exploding technology.

Won't we have to have technology ourselves that blocks things from being projected into our minds?

Creepy for a number of reasons, @janton! Hubby & I had a long conversation with the youngest last night, and this was one of the topics we touched on. On more than one occasion, I've mentioned something in passing whilst holding my phone - next thing I know, I'm seeing ads for it on FB. Mind control is next level blergh! 😂

Love those wire sculptures -I lol'ed at the crypt investor, and have been a long time fan of Fantasywire/Robin Wight. Excellent choices!
