This is done by pressing the windows key + the letter I together to open Settings, go to System, then Display, then Brightness and Color. Use the slider to change the brightness, by moving to the left the lighting will be dim, and by moving to the right you will be brighter.

If the slider is not available, you have one of two options: If you use an external or separate screen, you can use the buttons on the screen to adjust the brightness, otherwise you need to update the display driver.

To do this press the windows key + the letter X key and click Drive Manager, then expand the Display adapters option, then right-click the Graphics Card option, then choose Update Driver Software, and then follow the wizard steps.
Automatic screen brightness adjustment based on battery life

Adjust according to battery life

Lowering the screen brightness of your mobile device can help get more liquid in the device's battery, which helps extend battery life.

In Windows 10 there is a feature to save battery charge, by automatically reducing screen brightness when needed; to activate this feature press the windows + letter I key, to open Settings, then go to System, then Battery Saver, then Battery Saver Settings.

Activate the option to turn on battery saver automatically if the battery power falls below “..Turn Battary Saver on Automatically my battery fall below ..”, and use the slider to select the minimum battery capacity at which the battery saver will operate. Finally, choose a lower screen brightness option while the Lower Screen Brightness While In Battery saver option is active.
Currently the brightness level cannot be set, but we hope Microsoft will add this feature to Windows 10 in subsequent updates.
