Battling in the Virtual Realm- My brother's first time on VR :)

How was everyone's weekend? I had a great time, hanging out with brother dreemit and his clan, and of course mama!

My 5 year old niece, Nora, adores her big cousin Ethan, so when she asked him to bring the VR so she could spiderman some webs, he of course would not say no :)

Unfortunately the old clunky laptop was not able to get that particular game up and running for her, but she did have a marvelous time on rollercoaster simulations and walking through a Jurassic park type theme.

Ultimately though, it was my brother- @ed-the-songster trying VR for the first time that gave us all some seriously great entertainment, and I thought Why not include my Hive peeps in the fun?

So here is a video montage of thirty second (give or take) clips as my brother learns to "leap, climb, run, and swing a sword in the virtual reality realm that is the Oculus Quest 2! (With commentar from the peanut gallery, aka Me, Mama, Hubs, and Son :0)

Blade and Sorcery Take One!

The "I only had Nintendo growing up" defense of his lack of moves XD

Ethan gives a tutorial, shows him how its done! XD

Good night Nora Bell :)

Getting the hang of it! (Hilarious, my favorite!)

Mary makes an appearance:)

"One for each sword!" And Ethan describes the scenery for the rest of us.:)

A splendid time was had by all!

On a serious note- I've heard the concerns when it comes to VR, the idea that people could get lost in a digital realm...if you've never tried it, then know that we are still a long way from that concern. There is no way of mistaking the current tech for anything real, and there's a limit to how long most can take looking at this 3D surround screen.

I'm simultaneously awed and worried about the future of these things! For now though, it's definitely a fun activity for a rainy, miserable day :)

Happy Sunday Hive!

My daughter's boyfriend can't handle it all because of nausea. Looks like E.d. and I took after mom's constitution, none of us felt sick with it, though mom was definitely a bit overwhelmed. I wish I had thought to record her with this game! So hilarious, she was flailing all over the place, ended up ripping off someone's arm and beating them with it 😆

I can imagine there being many an accident with VR headsets on. People smashing into things or falling over. Still, it is much fun. Soon we will be plugging the cable straight into our heads!

Actually, with these new ones you move the furniture and plot out the boundaries, sensors pick them up, then when you're getting close you can see the grid and know to move back. The only thing to really sorry about is overhead- definitely make sure there's no ceiling fans or light fixtures in sword chopping distance haha!

Lol, that is funny. Or rather it is good, it is funny when I think yo playing it at my mates cramped office room as I repeatedly banged my arms on things! Space mapping is the way to go! I might get one myself one of these days. Cant beat a good swing on the sword chopping!
