Not Much Support For Meta Owning Metaverse Data

Not only do most adults surveyed not like the name change to 'meta' but there also does not appear to be that much support for Meta owning metaverse data either according to a recent survey.

About 77% said they saw an issue with FB owning the data and a large majority of those surveyed said they would prefer the metaverse on a decentralized blockchain.

Gaming is the big attraction right now for the metaverse, even though there do appear to be some gamers and developers who aren't interested in anything to do with this space. This will always be the case. That hasn't slowed the progress down and things are still expected to grow from here over the next several years.

Despite big names coming into the metaverse market though, there are a large number of brands that are still unfamiliar with what's going on.

And FB is going to have a difficult time recovering its reputation with those who don't like the history. From data breaches to whistleblowers, and studies suggesting that social media platforms might be toxic for some, enable censorship against others etc, there are a wide range of reasons why their brand has deteriorated to become one of the top 10 most hated companies in America and recently voted as one of the worst companies of the year.

This might not be shocking news to some. Regardless of that discontent though, FB isn't likely to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Some are already predicting that there will be individuals interested in living in the metaverse within a few years from now.

It is expected to be bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars, even though many still don't know what the metaverse is yet and how to join the metaverse either.

But as far as FB owning the content? it's clear many don't want that.

Meta seems to be an alternative life, but what will be the meta weakness will be the avatars. The next generation is hooked on Tik Tok. What do they see? Real people. If people could have full physical representation in Meta, it will gain acceptance. If it's a cartoon universe, then it will not connect with younger generations.
