More Schools Testing Robot Food Delivery Services

Robots are serving food around the world today and increasingly that means delivering food in the U.S. as well.

For one school, Ohio State, they've recently launched a autonomous food delivery on campus using robots built by Yandex and the food delivery is a partnership with Grubhub.

There will be dozens of the units driving around campus delivering meals to students. The process of ordering is easy for students and this makes one more area that this sort of delivery service is being tried.

We have seen similar operations pop up in places like California but those delivery robots haven't come without their own issues, and eventually lawmakers moved to crackdown on delivery robots because of their use of sidewalks.

Ohio State isn't the first school to try out delivery with robots, it has been done for years at one institution or community. There are also a growing number of companies opting to look into drone and robot deliveries today including well known companies such as Amazon, Domino's, and others.

There are multiple reasons that companies are looking to go with these devices today. Students will be seeing these delivery services not just in Ohio or California but in other U.S. regions as well such as Washington, New Mexico and more is expected to be coming.

Wow, I'm pretty impressed and want to see that technology in real life but unfortunately in Latvia, I believe something like that never happens.

Latvia is a nice compact country on the Baltic. it is the type of place that could develop stuff like this ... if the people wanted it.

Small countries have a great deal of potential because they are not encumbered with the regulations common in large countries. If the people in Latvia wanted to do cool things, they could.

The downside of small countries is that they are often controlled by a corrupt aristocracy that is more interested in maintaining control than innovation.

Yes, I agree with you corrupt aristocracy is a big problem in Latvia. And another thing it is all from you if you want to develop some interesting stuff it's all from your pocket. Yes, we have some project called support program for young entrepreneurs but in reality, about 1 project from about 200-300 is partially supported from the country side. but yes I also agree to if the people in Latvia wanted to do cool things, they could. It will be hard but it's possible. 🙂
