It's absolutely scary to see how things are developing across the world. Hopefully china isn't going to be example to follow.

For past few decades we've lived in illusion of "democracy". This system wasn't perfect, but it gaved humans some rights and privillages. That can be taken away slowly and steadily from us.

The challenge is the idea of this all being controlled and monitored by a few super nations and 9 global mega-tech companies is sickening.

Indeed it is :/ I'm kind of sorry for upcoming generation. I see kinds playing around in their playgrounds, not knowing what world WE are building for them :(

We know that companies like Facebook and Google have little difference from governments.
The way data is being used - it's a huge difference.
Authorities will use data to control us and suppress us. Tech giants are using those data to make profit. That's a massive difference.

ps. personally I see blockchain as a tool, which will allow superpowers to control population even more than they did so far. I wish to see it the way you do.
