Survival Saturday #18: Formulas for Sale and Barter
This week's excerpt comes from volume 4 of Kurt Saxon's Survivor.
If it does happen that we have to go through a trial period where we have to do for ourselves, it will be better for us if we prepare in advance.
I really don't think that a fall back to the 19th century will be happening.
I hope that we can just keep working, but stop paying.
Ultimately it will be up to our neighbors, they out number us by a lot.
If any of them decide to go mad max, we will have done well to plan for that.

It is a good idea to get to know your neighbors, and arrange good relations with them as possible. I spent yesterday making a shed for a neighbor, for which I received a good leather belt. Not particularly financially rewarding, but I needed a good belt and they needed the shed. In the event one of my other neighbors 'goes Mad Max' I'm pretty sure they would hide me in their shed.
It's particularly useful to be on good terms with neighbors likely to go Mad Max, as even psychopaths tend to have exceptions to their rules of universally hating everyone, and if they like you, or at least find you useful, they might kill you last. Of course this can backfire on you when you're dealing with crazy people, who can take umbrage over things they make up, or that only happened in dreams, so have an inner judge you hear but whose rulings aren't spoken.
I like Kurt Saxon, but he'd have clearly gone Mad Max at the drop of a hat. Perhaps without any hats being involved. Maybe even a recovering Mad Max, on the wagon from murder and mayhem, resorting to publishing formularies like an ex-alcoholic drinks near beer.
Thanks!
He's one of my heroes, I should've gone back to see him sooner.
He was hard to deal with, I'd imagine.
Most guru's end up alone on mountains, eh?
Did you catch Wheels of Rage?
Let me know if that link works for you, I got a clock error.
I get a search of Kurt Saxon on archive.org. No specific link to a work so titled, which I would be interested in, as Kurt Saxon raging on roads is bound to be entertaining.
Did you try the wheels of rage link in the comment?
I've found this error before.
It comes and goes.
I just want an independent test of it.
I haven't searched through the hundreds of links yet. I'll let you know what results when I do.
Edit: when I did I did not find anything about Kurt Saxon raging on wheels, sadly.
Try this one.

I am becoming more intent on seeing Kurt raging on wheels. This is just inciting my hunger.
Yep, that's it.
He has a link to his Clarence the martian killer stories on there, too.
Could that be a server side error because somebody hasn't checked it for a while?

There it is, in the wayback machine.

Yes, some day we will be needing it, and not having it.
That's true.
