RE: My Journey in Biomedical Research - Part 2

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

As in many stories of researchers, it is not so easy to accommodate work and private life (including family). It is interesting to learn that you got your kids without having any stable job. This should have been a bit worrying, shouldn't it?

On my side, I was lucky to find a tenured job when I was still quite young. Otherwise, who knows what could have happened...

Fortunately, the second time, I was able to file unemployment until I secured the position in NY. I had my first child during my sophomore year of college and that was a challenge. Thankfully my family helped a lot! My exhusband had a very well paying job too, so there's that lol

Thanks for all the engagement. It is greatly appreciated 😊

Every story is interesting and different! Having the flowing of money on-going and family are definitely game changers. :)

In my story, it was the opposite as in yours. I brought the only income of the family at the time of the birth of my first child, as my wife was initially not allowed to work in France. Her Swiss and Canadian degrees were both not recognised. Both our families were living quite far from where we lived, making the situation at least complicated.

Today things have changed and life is a bit more comfortable with two salaries. We are however still quite far from our respective families.

I want to eventually put this entire series into a collection and add @stemsocial as beneficiary. Part 4 is going to be very exciting. I posted part 3 early this morning. Needed to get that one off my plate 😂

Maybe could you also consider posting directly in the community (see here on hive.blog and here on peakd.com)? That may help for visibility.

I noticed that you are indeed using the tag #stemsocial. However, the two links I shared in this reply allows you in fact to subscribe to STEMsocial and post within the community. This is where our curators and community members usually check out posts.

I don't know whether this was fully clear (it gets quite late here). Please let me know.
