Do You Know Why 1 Giga Equal= 1024 Mb not 1000

avatar

I remember in my first year of college, I was studying computer
And the lecturer told us that

The fact that the kilo in digital storage equal 1024 is that the whole digital system depends on the Binary Numeral System "A counting system with base number 2, used to represent numeric values using two symbols, usually 0 and 1"

In other words, It depends on the number 2 power to any number
like 2 power 0 equal 1
2 power 1 equal two
and the closest number two 1000 which is the ordinary 1 kilo of anything is
2 power 10 which equals 1024
and the next storage capacity is 2 power 11 which equals 2048 and so on.

Thank you

Dear STEM Geek! I am writing this comment to inform you that the leader of our tribe, @themarkymark, has unfairly banned me from the discord server of our tribe. Show him we are a decentralized community and that such acts of tyranny will not be accepted in the STEM tribe! Tell him to let me in again!

Thank you!
