I'm Back! Pretty Sure I Had the Covid :(

avatar

Wow! That really sucked. Pretty sure I caught the Covid a couple weeks ago and man it kicked my ass!

About two weeks ago a close family member got a call from a friend that they had Covid. The family member was out with that person 2 days before this. Sure enough they got sick a couple days later shortly followed by the rest of the house. 🤣 I've been pretty much laying around in bed and on the couch since after Thanksgiving.

The close family member got tested yesterday and it's official. They had the Covid so I'm guessing the rest of us had it also.

This was my experience....

Started with a really bad headache and head congestion. Following day had a severe fever and REALLY BAD CHILLS! I literally laid under a pile of blankets for the next couple days. If I got up and out of the blankets I immediately started shivering. NO MATTER what I did I couldn't get warm unless I was under the blankets. I've never had the chills like that before.

I had nauseous feelings but didn't puke and after the first 3 days every day got a little better. All I wanted to do was lay around and sleep though. I suffered mainly severe head congestion.

NOT MEDICAL ADVICE! As soon as I started feeling ill I started taking ZINC, Magnesium and Vitamin C supplements. I also took cough syrup and constantly irrigated my nose with a neti pot. I have sinus problems to begin with, so a sinus infection was my biggest concern. Feeling much better now and I'm happy to report NO sinus infection!

I didn't go get tested because I didn't want to add to the statistics. I wont get into my Covid politics but closing the country isn't an option IMHO. I was sick, it was really nasty, I recovered, I'm feeling better. Everyone else seems to be recovering fine as well. Stopping the world isn't an option and this isn't an extinction level event IMHO.

Two seniors in the family got sick and they're still not out of the woods yet but seem to be recovering. One has a really bad cough but seems to be getting better each day. The other one who is probably most at risk seems to be close to recovered as well. Both people are in their 80s. That was the scariest part about all this.

EVERYONE was vaccinated! Not sure how to feel about that. SMH

So, I'm feeling MUCH better. I should be back to regular blogging and I'm working on a travel video which I should have up right after Xmas. Wishing you all the best of health for this holiday season! Stay well friends! Cheers!

It's looking like Christmas is on. We had a family meeting about it last night after we got the test results and everyone agreed to celebrate Christmas as usual unless anyone seems like they take a bad turn. The doctor said we should be past contagious and to just lay low for awhile to make sure. Just a small family celebration anyway with the addition of a couple cousins!

Cheers!

We had a similar discussion. I expect we will be doing a few tests to be sure. Have a good one.

COVID sucks.

I had it last year and I got almost the same symptoms as you did.
My family caught it last month. It was my father that got my mother and sister sick.
He had 1 Pfizer shot and my mother was fully vaccinated. Took her last shot just 2 weeks before she got sick. She had the worst symptoms. Its been more than a month and shes still feeling it.

Id really recommend anyone over 50 to get vaxed. Anyone under, its on them.
The vax does a shit job at stopping the spread, especially if someone in your household gets it but it does reduce the symptoms. For older people thats a must.
If my mother didnt take the shots who knows how she would fair.

The issue is that everyone lied about the vaccines and their effectiveness which is what pisses me off the most. Media spreading the idea that the vaccines were 98% effective, making it seem that they will stop the spread when in actuality their effectiveness is in reducing symptoms in older population. Compared to other stuff we call "vaccines" they do a really shit job. This is more of a "mild protection" than a immunity.

Media lying about the vaccines is actually quite dangerous. It put a false idea of safety into the minds of the vaccinated making them think they were safe which makes people less cautious.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm happy the 80 year olds were vaccinated. They seem to be recovering and the focus really should be on keeping our seniors safe.

Yeah we went from 98% effective to reducing symptoms real quick. The whole things leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I try not to rant about it though. I think each person needs to take the level of risk they're comfortable with. This is all uncharted territory IMHO. I'm just happy everyone seems to be recovering OK, and hopefully the vax reduced everyone's symptoms here.

Have a happy healthy holiday! Cheers!

All of this has been too politicized, private companies buying off media, fact checkers, having them lie for them to increase sales. The whole situations is beyond fucked up.
No one seems to try and take a objective look at the situation. Once theyre proven wrong, they shift the goalpost.

Happy holidays to you and your family and wish everyone a fast recovery.

It really has been overly politicized. Sad really because you just don't know what to believe anymore.

glad you are doing ok.

i had it a bit better. first day every muscle heart like hell, 2-3 days of just wanting to lay and do nothing and after that 3 days of no smell. all with small fewer.
i started taking vitamin c and d on regular bases last year so i tend to think that helped. because i for sure can't call my self in shape or fit.

Thank you.

3 days of no smell

I'm just starting to get my smell back! With my sinus problems that's not unusual for me though. It's been a couple weeks since I was able to smell. Every so often I get a whiff of something though.

vitamin c and d

I need to add the vitamin D everyone keeps mentioning that one... I think taking the Zinc at the very start helped me a lot. Recovery seemed fast as far as the main symptoms went.

Cheers man! Stay healthy fren and happy holidays to you and yours!

I would have added Vitamin D (which you can get from a little sun exposure) and K2 to the mix.

The big question is: did you get tested and included in the stats of people with COVID19? I am thinking that people are less likely to report their illness to authorities in this stage of the pandemic.

Nope, one person from the family went and got tested. Nobody wanted to add to the stats.

people are less likely to report their illness to authorities in this stage of the pandemic.

People are afraid of having their businesses closed and losing their jobs in another shutdown. I really can't blame them.

I would have added Vitamin D

Hopefully there's not a next time, but I'll add this next time for sure. Everybody keeps telling me to get it. I do get a lot of sun though. I spend a lot of time outdoors every chance I get.

and K2 to the mix

This is a new one for me. I'll have to look into that. I think the Zinc at the start of all this really helped a lot. As sick as I was, the recovery was pretty quick outside of the lethargy.

To be truthful, I am less likely to report any health concerns to the authorities.

I take a zinc lozenge at the first sign of a cold. When I do the cold never develops. I wish health officials spent more time talking about immune health than they did about mandates and masks.

So glad you're on the mend. This thing is really nasty. Politics and messaging aside, it seems that the vax does prevent severe disease if not breakthrough infections. Our 75-ish neighbour with Parkinsons tested + on Monday but is on the mend. Lockdowns, they are now acknowledging, don't really work. The same debate is happening here with fewer hospitalizations. We cannot afford another one. For for economic reasons as well as (yes, this is about me) my mental health. I cannot do the last two years again!

Get well, be well and merry Christmas!

Wishing you a happy Christmas as well.

I think a lot of people feel this way about it. The economic impact and the mental health issues are serious concerns for everyone. A lot of people are starting to feel this way! I couldn't agree more.

Have a great holiday and wishing you and yours a happy, healthy, prosperous new year!
