The concept is quite interesting and has been around a while. Will be interesting to see what caltech come up with. While such equipment needs to be launched from Earth cost will always be a factor - but once there is some kind of manufacturing capability with resources (asteriods maybe) in orbit, then things will change - but that is so far away in the future at the moment.

This is true. I am excited about green energy that can be ported to anywhere. This and artificial chlorophyll are my favorites. As someone who worked in nuke, I want to see more thorium reactors and MSR as well.
