Is There Growing Acceptance For Seasteading?

Seasteading has the capability to provide a real world solution to the growing problem of rising sea levels that a number of coastal jurisdictions are concerned with.

While the idea of creating human settlements, floating cities, in the ocean continues to gain momentum, we have seen some individuals embark on the journey already.

For one couple who built their own property that was eventually torn down by the government, they are now on the run and in fear of being convicted and sentenced to death for their non-violent actions.

The idea of creating these new city regions on the water isn't new, and has previously been marketed as a way to possibly experiment with new government systems.

"If people move 12 miles offshore (or 24 miles in the case of the U.S.), they can, in theory, live free from existing governments’ suffocating rules. People then could try new things — find better forms of government." -John Stossel

However, now it is gaining more popularity for the potential that the idea has to address a problem that many are concerned about.

It could be really interesting to watch this idea unfold, and to see incredible innovation and creative development move into this space to create floating structures and communities in a new way.

Seasteading might have gained a lot of acceptance with those who are attracted to the possibility of experiencing freedom through it, but that has also been a reason why some have criticized the idea.

But not everyone wants to turn to seasteading to help just yet, insisting that addressing the fundamental problems first are a better solution than moving to the sea.
