BioLargo Develops New Cutting-Edge Water Treatment Technology To Deal With PFAS Contamination

PFAS or 'forever chemicals' have contributed to a great deal of suffering for people across the United States and elsewhere.

The EPA has failed to keep people safe from PFAS and keep these harmful chemicals out of the water supply for millions. Today there are people suffering from a wide range of illnesses, including cancer, that is believed to have been fueled by their exposure to these chemicals in the water and environment.

Now that the public has grown more aware of these chemicals, government agencies have moved in to calm fears and introduce more transparency into the process, people want to know what is going on with PFAS and who is keeping an eye, cleaning them up etc.

For those who want to try and stay clear of these chemicals they might opt for a water filter, but many of your average filters are not going to be able to filter a variety of contaminants. Cleaning up PFAS seems like a next-to-impossible task to accomplish but there is one company making ground on that front, that is BioLargo Engineering.

BioLargo Engineering has developed a new water treatment technology that is expected to help address the problem we face regarding PFAS contamination. That new technology is known as the Aqueous Electrostatic Concentrator (AEC).

Already, the AEC method has proven to be effective at removing 99+% of the most prominent PFAS which are PFOS and PFOA.

Some 100 million people in the U.S. or more are expected to come into contact with these problem chemicals, they could fuel the illness of millions because of exposure.

At the beginning of this year, the EPA declared that going after PFAS was a top priority right now for the agency and finding efficient cleaning methods is also greatly needed. That doesn't do much good for the millions who are already exposed, and for the thousands who have gotten sick.

Already, the AEC has exceeded their expectations for water cleanup, and ultimately their new water treatment method could prove to be tremendously valuable if it can accurately remove PFAS chemicals from the water.

The PFAS clean-up market is obviously significant, with the contamination spreading across various states and estimated to be impacting the water supply of millions.

There is a great need to clean this garbage up and get it removed from various communities. They believe that it will ultimately take hundreds of millions to cover the cost of the equipment to clean up the contamination problem.
