Let's say you are in a position that you need to hire a Developer for a big Project. You are the Company CEO or CTO, or Technical HR of your company or you have your one project that you want to develop. In all the scenarios, you want to hire devs for the job, and you want to hire the highly skilled one. The question is very simple and you job is as simple as that.

How do you separate a Highly Skilled Developer from a normal one?

Let's also say that you will have interviews with multiple developers and you need to decide. Might happen that all of them have the same years of experiences, they know the same frameworks and technologies, they have all worked with the same programming languages, basically they are the same.

The challenge here is to separate who is the developer that has the highest chances of succeeding and being successful.

Based on my Personal Experiences here are some tips or habits that separates highly skilled and successful Devs from the normal ones:

  1. They experience goes beyond technical experience and tech skills.
  2. They make the difference in a project
  3. They are open to new ideas and opinions
  4. They listen carefully and they like other ideas when they matter
  5. They are very collaborative with the teams and project managers
  6. They like new challenges, they are not afraid of changes if the changes are for the good of company
  7. They try to help the company and the project whenever is necessary
  8. They are innovative and like to explore new products ideas
  9. They are very confident of the work they do
  10. They can solve complex problems in their own but also know where to share the work to the people who are more experts

So you need to keep these in mind when you want to do know the difference. Every developer knows that these tips/habits are turned in success.

As a developer with those habits you can be:

  1. Highly Effective
  2. Problem Solver
  3. Development related Fields Expert
  4. Highly Skilled
  5. Successful Developer

Sincerely,
Gianni
