Trust the Steem Blockchain - trust the Community

Now it is Time to PowerUp

No financial or investment advise, you all know the clause - but with current crypto markets and Steem prize I think it could be a good time to buy Steem and / or PowerUp again. Sure you never know what will happen but I am confident the Steem price will not go down a lot. Maybe wishful thinking - if I would not be as broke as now I would certainly buy some. If the prize remains similar until November 2019 I certainly WILL. I believe in this blockchain simply as of three things:

  • A great community
  • A fast blockchain
  • A wide range of cool DApps

Powering up makes a lot sense as investment as well to support the community by votes even the value has decreased a bit but the new HF system encourages again more manual curation which I will strengthen more and more these days and intense (also) latest from November onwards. The vote value itself depends now on other factors so your vote can be also have a higher impact as before depending on when you vote and who is voting after :-).

I really enjoyed my three years on this blockchain a lot and for the newbies - 95% of the Steem and Steem Power in my Wallet has been generated via postings and curating activity which is kind of cool - I did not invest external fiat a lot so I have nothing to loose (apart from the time, brain and heart I invested here) but even I lose the crypto I have won a lot friends and knowledge paired with wisdom around blockchain and humanity a lot.

Why Powering Up? I trust the ecosystem around Steem - I trust the PEOPLE

I am not a crypto king or tech / dev guy but I have a little bit of instinct what models could work at least having worked in sales, marketing and comms since nearly 25 years. I do BELIEVE Steem and its ecosystem are a game changer in the industry - no matter there is still EOS or other projects people jump on! Not only financially or because of blockchain! No it is at least 65% because of the community, the people drive this as any other business. If you do not have trust in a company as staff or client this company will fail! Therefore I am confident this one here will become / remain a success story!

Advise for Newbies

Actually I do not have advise as I am no legally accepted financial advisor. To be successful here depends on various factors. The network you build, the relations you establish (here Steemfest really deserves a mention as there you can talk to the big guys, the whales and make an impact), the content you provide. As a little dolphin I can only say what I feel is best for me:

Heart and Brain need to create a Joint-Venture! If you have no Passion for this and are in for the fast money you better leave!

As you know @uwelang, I cannot buy in to STEEM and actually live off of STEEM and STEEM related money since Dec 2017. It is not easy, and I live a very cheap life in Malaysia. But I will not stop trying and continuing to do my part to help this place survive. Even with using the proceeds of STEEM, I have managed to grow my sp from about 250 on two blogs last July 2018 to around 1300 on three blogs today. I feel I will keep up with this pace at least.

My network and relationships are what make this work for me along with 40+ posts and 300+ comments each week. I believe in the changes the fork has brought and am working hard to help other little fish see their way too. But we have lost hundreds of them in this last two weeks and it has been heartbreaking for me. All I can do is keep helping those who stay.

I will be in Bangkok for STEEMFest - my first, and I am very eager for the opportunity. I have a lot of plans and meetups scheduled, but unless steem moons, I get more upvotes, or I win a ticket, I will not be paying the conference fee. So stay tuned for some interesting posts I will make during conference hours if I do not get the chance to attend.

It's been a hard summer. Here's to an amazing autumn and new year :)

You are a role model of a content creator and community person I know since the days pre-blockchain. Hope you enjoy Steemfest, understand the background and fees to attend are a hurdle for some people of course. Did you attend contests to win sth?

Wishing you all the best! My summer and spring and now autumn are also very tough but I will deal with it as I always try. Did we really lose hundreds?

Yes we did lose hundreds. I enter contests on at least 60% of my posts. I am winning most of them now since now one else is entering.

I cannot even tell you how many minnows/redfish have thanked me for my minnow tips as they give up and leave out the door. The glee of the bigs is hard to take when your 50 cent reward dropped to 20 cents or less and your hard fought 1 cent vote dropped back to zero again.

I am a @freewritehouse "encourager." This means I go to the Sunday posts, read them and give the people the Monday prompt. I used to have 20-25 people to encourage each week. This week I had 10. Freewriters are dedicated bloggers with great work and who care. Now they are gone.

I do bounties - I am getting great payouts since no one else is answering.
I do dPolls - they are less than half of what they were.
On and on the carnage goes...

This has been the hardest two weeks of my steeming life even though my personal rewards are up. I won 50 STEEM in a contest with my not-very-great posters since almost no one else entered. For a contest with that high of a payout - WTH?

Yes, I am entering contests to win the conference fee. I hope my luck extends to there.

Like I said, I believe in the fork result and will keep trying to help the little guys. The new ones coming in will not know the past, so that will help.

Please be sure to look at my other comment I left on your older post today @uwelang. I'm working all the angles tonight. (5 am in Malaysia now, lol)

True words! Best time to buy STEEM! When I started back middle of the year 2017 I bought STEEM for lots of FIAT-money (EUR), being the price at that time for STEEM around 2 Dollars. Later I bought even more for a higher price. So, with about 75% of my 9000 SP (my two accounts) I have a lot of skin in the game. At least for me it is a lot.

As I strongly believe in the platform I nevertheless bought recently 700 more Steem and powered it up. Maybe one day the effort will compensate the financial loss I have made so far.

You know I'm still confident in Steem. I've bought a few hundred Steem, but it's so cheap right now. Most people should at least be able to buy their way to minnow. I'm powering up all I can.
