Description:
Science Technology Engineering Math community.

dove possiamo leggere:

What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and includes a wide range of science and technology topics.

e ancora:

When should I use the #STEM tag?
Primarily for posts that focus on science, facts, and reason backed by data or solid hypotheses about the world around us. At its core, this is a community to facilitate the means of developing skills that explore scientific decisions, critical thinking about evidence and facts.

Science
Space Exploration
Gadgets
Technology Innovations
Blockchain Technology
Programming & Development
Mathematics
Artificial Intelligence
Machine Learning
Maker (i.e. Raspberry Pi & Arduino)
3D Printing
Mobile Phone Technology
Medical Advances
Robotics

e per concludere:

The main idea of STEMGeeks is to provide technology & science-focused community with a niche wide enough you could live here but not wide enough to see $100 cat photos.

Carlo (@miti)

Hello everybody,

as you all know the Social part of Steem is being reorganized thanks to the creation of Steem Engine; in fact the possibility of issuing its own token that relies on the blockchain has greatly accelerated the emergence of thematic communities in which it is easier for readers and curators to find material of their own interest.

Obviously these thematic communities, in addition to their own token, have begun to collect their own articles under their specific #tag so that they can pay the authors precisely with their token.
By raising a problem of no small importance: the abuses.

Who checks that there are no abuses in the use of thematic tags, also in light of the possibility of some front-ends to use 10 tags against the 5 classics we are used to?

LEO, STEM, GG, JAHM .. to name a few. They are reference tokens for the thematic communities created to collect articles on the world of finance, science, the Steem Ace game and Jamaica.
I repeat, these are just some of the examples of already existing groups or newborns who are trying to exploit the potential of Steem Engine.

Effort that could be nullified by the usual spammers that contaminate the specific tag to take advantage of it.

Take for example the STEM community, in which token description we read:

Description:
Science Technology Engineering Math community.

More specifically on to their site to the description of their project: Announced STEMGeeks, a new Steem Engine Tribe!

where we can read:

What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and includes a wide range of science and technology topics.

then:

When should I use the #STEM tag?
Primarily for posts that focus on science, facts, and reason backed by data or solid hypotheses about the world around us. At its core, this is a community to facilitate the development of scientific skills, critical thinking about evidence and facts.

Science
Space Exploration
Gadgets
Technology Innovations
Blockchain Technology
Programming & Development
Mathematics
Artificial Intelligence
Machine Learning
Maker (i.e. Raspberry Pi & Arduino)
3D Printing
Mobile Phone Technology
Medical Advances
Robotics

and to conclude:

The main idea of STEMGeeks is to provide technology & science-focused community with a wide enough you could live here but not enough enough to see $ 100 cat photos.

So no photos of cats, but articles closely related to the chosen thematic niche. I would say that it is a very interesting choice because it enables people interested in the proposed topics to easily find their favorite articles without having to search through the hundreds of posts published every day and collected without any classification in the various Steem front ends.
Not only, it allows authors to receive rewards as well as in steem / SP / SBD also in the community token of which they use the tag.

All very nice if in fact the abuses of which I spoke earlier did not take place.

Let's take this post:

case 1.jpg

clearly this post that talks about sports, football in detail, has nothing to do with the tag used:

case 1b.jpg

Here there is even a double abuse, as the author also uses the #steemleo tag that has nothing to do with the article.

Unfortunately, this type of abuse is widespread also for the #steemleo tag, perhaps even more widespread than the #stem tag. I bring a couple of cases, for example:

case 3.jpg

where the #steemleo tag is used for no reason:

case 3b.jpg

or even this:

case 4.jpg

here too the #steemleo tag is used without motivation.

case 4b.jpg

These are two examples, of which I came across in a few minutes of browsing the STEEMLEO website, of totally unjustified use of the tag.
Even in the STEEMLEO community there is a supervisory body that watches over the abuse of the tag, but not always the same are identified properly. I tried to give myself a ride in all the posts with the tag #steemleo and I must say that there are many posts that have nothing to do with the contents of the tag.

In short, however praiseworthy is the initiative of these groups to create communities focused on certain topics and to support them with specific tokens, all this work could be nullified by the usual spammers and abusers; therefore a control role by the moderators of these communities who intervene to remove the tokens from those who try to take advantage of the situation is well received.

For some tags, perhaps a greater effort would be needed, such as in STEEMLEO, because the situation risks escaping control and nullifying the good things done up to now.

To those who should read this post, I recommend using the tags with great criteria because only correct and judicious behavior will allow STEEM and the various communities to evolve into something unique in the Social panorama.
Furthermore, as you have seen, an unjustified use of the tags could incur in downvote and in the worst case, in case of repeated behavior, to end up in the dreaded blacklist from which it would then become complicated to exit.

Greetings,
Carlo (@miti)
