Is a new world war closer than we think?
Every now and then, I find a video that really intrigues me. I am fascinated by the war machine and how politics and money seemed to be reliant on war for growth.
In George Orwell's 1984, there is one quote really stood out to me.
“The essential act of war is destruction, not necessarily of human lives, but of the products of human labour. War is a way of shattering to pieces, or pouring into the stratosphere, or sinking in the depths of the sea, materials which might otherwise be used to make the masses too comfortable, and hence, in the long run, too intelligent.”
― George Orwell, 1984
War is a game to destroy the products of human labor. It is way to expense human labor into thin air. If a certain amount of resources are spent in waging war, those same resources are therefore not used to improve human lives.
The speaker in this video is George Friedman.
I like his opening remark:
"There has never been a century in which we did not have a global war."
-George Friedman
I would love to hear your comments on this video...
Do you think that war is near?
Is it possible that the next global war is already here?

It is very close. I expect the countries making ammunition with millions of dollars to want to use them at some point in the near future

Yes, that is exactly the point. Waging war involves a disordinate amount of destruction of human labor.
Your comment reminds me of a song:

The song says it all

Dear @deepwaters
Interesting and depressing choice of topic. Solid read buddy. Followed you and upvoted already.
I noticed that most people still think that another war will happen again in europe or US vs China. At the same time we've two nuclear powers (Pakistan and India) almost cutting their throats but noone talks about it.
I would expect another world class conflict to start somewhere there.

Piotr
I think you have a point. That is a very vulnerable region with two powers that have untested deterrent mechanisms. Turkey would play another key role in solving those conflicts.
Thank you for your prompt reply @deepwaters
Do you think turkey has any business in being involved into India vs Pakistan conflict?
Yours
Piotr
Not specifically India vs Pakistan.
But Turkey will be important the conflicts in the Muslim world. Like with Syria and the Suni, Shiat conflicts.
Howdy sir deepwaters! Very interesting and educational video, I had no idea all the major components of our phones came from innovations that were connected to war.
That was also the most surprising part for me. That phones hold so much military technology.
In a way, I think cell phones will definitely be an object of war. With the battlefield shifting towards cyber space, surveillance, and psychological operations.
Yes sir very true. I hope that guy is wrong about a global war coming! Can't we just freaking get along? I think most people just want to live in peace and be left alone to do their thing and enjoy life.
Global wars are catastrophic. In WW2, 2/3 of the total casualties were civilian deaths. It is best to not imagine war, but it is a complex and very real phenomenon.
The first step towards no war, is to take away the powers of the State to wage wars.
Howdy sir deepwaters! "take away the powers of the State to wage wars." Has anyone ever been able to do that, peacefully?
I think that as more people learn that the State is a creator of war, and not an ender of wars, then the revolution will be progressing.
Political revolutions are rarely peaceful, you are right.
This though, is a revolution of consciousness. Non-violence can be surprisingly powerful.
It's interesting to see what's going on in Hong Kong now, with masses of people forcing the Chinese government to back down.
I have not read about that recently. Though I do have some friends in Hong Kong, and they have have been posting about the subject. Even in person, the people of Hong Kong are very clear in stating they are not a part of China.
On the topic of War, have you heard of Anarchapulco?
It's a Libertarian conference event that occurs in Acapulco. I have been planning to go for the past year, and I think I will go in 2020. Check what their advertisement says.
I am interested in what they have to say about ending wars.
Howdy sir deepwaters! yes, I've read about it for years, Jeff Berwick's conference? I used to get his newsletters all the time but I think he stopped writing those or something changed.
That's odd. I must have gotten at least two of their newsletters just this week. I think they just publish more directly through their website and also here (Steemit) under the name "thedollarvigilante".
Closer to the date, I will know if I can attend.
thanks for the information sir deepwaters!
