  • la corsa alla vendita indiscriminata dello stesso porterebbe il suo valore a livelli molto bassi;
  • i post non avrebbero alcun valore nella specifica Tribe e non esisterebbe la curation degli stessi;

Hello everybody,

many will not even notice it but a few days ago there was an important innovation concerning the rewards of many of the Steem Engine Tribes.

In fact, if until a few days ago we were used to receiving them in our wallet completely in the form of liquid tokens and then immediately exchangeable against steem in the Steem Engine market, now many Tribes administrators have decided to take advantage of the innovation introduced by the staff who allows them to automatically stake 50% of rewards (whether they come from Author or Curation Rewards).
For example, if you look at this screen shot of Steem Engine Block Explorer you will immediately see:

ex stake.jpg

The lines highlighted relate to the rewards claim of some Tribes to which I participate with my posts and in the red rectangle you can see how 50% of them were automatically placed in stakes with the words: 0.0000 more XXX were added to XXX POWER.

*Exactly as it happens for Steem, where we are used to receiving 50% of rewards in liquid form (sbd, steem + sbd or just steem depending on the SBD Print Rate) and 50% in stakes (Steem Power).

A novelty of no small importance, as it will certainly have repercussions on the way of living the Tribes and on the habits of their members.

Although the news is from a few days ago, I have already had the opportunity to exchange opinions in this regard and to note that at the moment the opinions are conflicting.

For me, it changes nothing, because I'm used to put on stake all the tokens I receive. In fact, I was even looking for a tool that would allow me to automatically place them in stake.
But many, perhaps too many, think in a different way as they have the sole purpose of reselling tokens as soon as they received them; in practice they saw the tool of Steem Engine and Tribes as cash cow to obtain a few extra coins.

Lacking completely the motivation that led to the creation of specific communities supported by its own token, which rely on Steem Engine.

I have already talked about it a lot in my previous posts and I don't feel like repeating myself for the umpteenth time, but I think this division in Tribes can only do good for Steem and, at first glance, brought back some enthusiasm in who contributes to the platform and sees its own posts valued more by a community that is able to appreciate its contents and vote for them correctly.

But these Tribes must be supported and helped to grow in a healthy way, first of all with a correct use of the Tags and then putting the tokens into a stake, an attitude that allows to give value to one's vote (exactly as it happens with Steem Power in Steem) and to reward authors for their effort to produce quality content and to the curators for their willingness to support them.

Perhaps one does not realize that if no one staked the tokens there would be three immediate consequences:

  • Sale pressure would bring tokens value to very low levels;
  • the posts would have no value in the specific Tribe and the curation of the same would not exist;
  • the Tribe would lose all reason to exist and would be deprived of its intrinsic value (which indirectly has repercussions on the entire blockchain).

We must realize that all of Steem's social system is based on the publication of contents that is "rewarded" by readers' votes; the latter in turn are rewarded by the curation rewards based on the vote assigned. But if this vote had no value, both the author and the curator would not be rewarded and we would find us in front of a social network not different from the others.
For this reason, I welcome in an extremely positive way this novelty introduced by the Steem Engine staff and that many Tribes have immediately embraced.

Here is a list of those that, based on my knowledge, have joined:

PAL
NEOXIAN
INT
CCC
STEM
GG
SONIC
RHB
SPACO
LIFESTYLE

This is a provisional list and I am convinced that other Tribes will adapt to this possibility offered by Steem Engine. For example, the list lacks LEO, ZZAN, MARLIANS, SPORTS to name a few of the most active and it is not said that in the next few hours they too will divide rewards between those in liquid form and those in stakes.

The model of the Tribes adapts to that of Steem and this, in my opinion, only demonstrates one thing: that the aforementioned model is already perfect in itself. Certainly Steem will adapt to what the Tribes have already done, I'm talking about the 50/50 division between author and curators, something that will happen with the HF next week.

One last consideration before saying goodbye: I believe that many are missing the point that staking the Tribe tokens, they will receive rewards in the form of curation when they vote for posts that use the corresponding Tag; this novelty, which will credit 50% of rewards in the form of staked token, could also be an expedient to educate users on the correct use of tokens, a circumstance that will surely benefit everyone.
And although many will rush to put the accredited tokens into unstake, which will require a variable number of weeks depending on the Tribe involved, in the meantime they will receive the curation rewards that could make them change their brains.

Greetings,
Carlo (@miti)
