I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee)
So today i want to show how new mechanics from UNTAMED work so well blended into old school BETA lineups. Again as always, this is for relatively new players. This matchup is in the Gold II level.
So right off the bat, you see my opponent has a classic Water lineup. Furthermore, his monsters are all leveled up to where you would expect them to be. Mine are almost mirror to his with some noticeable exceptions:
I've replaced the SpineBack Turtle with Feasting Seaweed. these are not exact replacement cards, the turtle obviously having more life and shield and thorns. BUT....I would argue that the combined Opportunity AND Scavenger make the seaweed way more versatile from the middle position. You can see that before the turtle bites it, the seaweed has managed to grow to a staggering 9 health.
In lieu of the Water Elemental I am playing my Ice Pixies. I won't go on again about these little tinkerbells (see my other post) but I will say that for the 5 mana the elemental costs I was never a huge fan. Using up only 2 mana with the +1 magic boost gave my side a distinct edge. She hit the opposing Crustacean King, putting in two true damage AND wiping out the shield for the Seaweed to then target it. Reduced Life restoration then hurt his front line Monster recuperation allowing me to move on for the win.
To sum up, looking at the new UNTAMED abilities in play here: Opportunity, Scavenger, Shatter we see that we add a lot of versatility and depth when we blend those mechanics in with the more traditional BETA teams.
Let me know your thoughts. As always, Play On!!!
