Excess use of Social Media impacts on Health

Social Media is an addiction and when you spend way too much time on it you will feel your energy getting drained out. If on any given day I spend long hours on Social Media, then I start getting a headache and also that my body is very uncomfortable. There is a little disorientation that I feel. When we are engaged in some physical activity like sports or walking, we feel energized but spending time on social media drains us out.

There has been research done on what are the impacts of social media on the physical health and the study shows that people who have been excessively using social media and mobile phones have high levels of CRP (c-reactive protein), it is a marker for the level of inflammation in the body the higher the CRP levels the more the inflammation and inflammation is the root cause of many illnesses like autoimmune conditions, heart ailments, diabetes.....

Some people live on social media not realizing how much harm they are doing to their own self. And if we observe our patterns when we are using our mobile phones, we get so engrossed that we sit in one position for a long time just using our fingers. It is just not about the physical health but also about the mental health. Majorly teenagers and people in their 20s are more addicted to using social media, especially if the parents have been strict and kept them away and then suddenly when they get exposed to it, the usage is high.

The life of social media is luring and it attracts the younger generation strongly towards it. There is a lot of fake life that gets put up on Social Medias. Everyone wants to look the best and everyone wants to show the best with good amount of editing. Some people feel deprived of these flashy lifestyles and then their mental health gets impacted with feeling of inferiority complex.

Holding a mobile phone for a very long time just itself is not a very healthy practice and then spending mindless time browsing social medias is another concern. Especially at night in bed many people spend long hours browsing, this disturbs the sleep resulting into poor health eventually.

Majority of the people know all of this but still we choose to ignore and continue doing what is not healthy for us. It is important that with little mindfulness we use our devices. Having some entertainment in life is good but entertainment at the cost of our health is not good. Some healthy practices like switching off the wifi while going to sleep or putting the phone on flight mode or switching it off completely. Mindfully restricting the Social Media usage time are some ways to protect ourself from this addiction and also to take care of our health.
After all Health is Wealth.

Use of social network in younger generation is growing on an alarming rate, even parents are in trouble for kids using social network in video content sites, even parental controls are useless in this regards. Kids become aggressive if they don't get cellphones or find that site is blocked.

This must be taken care of before its too late.

That's true, my friend's son is only 8 years and he keeps on insisting to get a mobile phone. I am not sure how long her mother will be able to resist
