NASA recorded strange sounds coming from the side of the Moon invisible from Earth

One of such very intriguing recordings, however, the agency decided to release.

It was created during the Apollo 10 mission in 1969.

They were made while flying on the side of the Silver Globe invisible from Earth.

It was the last test flight to make a dress rehearsal for the historic human landing on the moon, and the recording of strange noises was recorded during a brief interruption of the ship's communication with Earth.

Astronauts listened to the sounds and called them "space music".

Interestingly, the crew did not inform NASA about this fact, because of the fear that scientists would think that they had suffered unknown mental disorders. Despite the fact that the agency informed about the recording containing mysterious sounds quite a long time ago, it was only now decided to

for its official publication.

Featured in the new Discovery Science series, NASA's Unexplained Files. Below you can see the conversation that astronauts John Young (CDR) and Eugene Cernan (LPM) made during the recording of sounds. 04 06 13 02

LMP That music even sounds outer-spacey, doesn't it?

You hear that?

That whistling sound? 04 06 13 06 CDR Yes. 04 06 13 07 LMP Whooooooo.

Say your –04 06 13 12 CMP Did you hear that whistling sound, too? 04 06 13 14 LMP Yes.

Sounds like - you know, outer-space-type music. 04 06 13 18 CMP I wonder what it is.

... 04 06 17 58 LMP Boy, that sure is weird music. 04 06 18 01 CMP We're going to have to find out about that.

Nobody will believe us.04 06 18 07 LMP Yes.

It's a whistling, you know, like an outerspace-type thing. 04 06 18 10 CMP Yes ... VHF-A ... 04 06 18 16 LMP Yes.

I wouldn't believe there's anyone out there. Unfortunately, NASA experts still don't know where these sounds come from and what their source is.

Meanwhile, similar strange sounds also appeared during the Cassini spacecraft's flight in Saturn's orbit.

Back then, their source was charged particles generated by the planet's magnetic environment, but in the case of the circumlunar mission, this explanation is not sufficient.

Apollo 11 astronauts also reported similar noises, but their nature is also unknown.

In the course of the interviews given, members of the lunar missions unanimously indicated that it was definitely not interference caused by devices on board the ships.
