However, the history of the city and its surroundings is tragic.

This year we celebrated the 34th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which was the largest known and best documented nuclear disaster in the 20th century.

We are still feeling the effects of this terrifying event, which has become the source of thousands of personal tragedies, and will continue to be for decades to come. On this occasion, the staff of the Pripyat.com website decided to prepare and publish the footage.

We can see the bustling city of Pripyat a few days before and after the disaster, as well as shots from the construction of the city and the nuclear power plant itself. The materials used come from Ukrainian national film archives and private collections of the city's inhabitants.

They have been enriched with an atmospheric soundtrack prepared by Vladimir Sawin. In the next decade, the vicinity of Pripyat will turn into one large solar farm that will produce green energy for nearby cities.

The government wants to show the whole world that it is possible to produce electricity that is fully environmentally friendly and does not endanger humans in any way.
