The Swiss startup HMCare aims to facilitate the use of protective masks in the context of the pandemic COVID-19. The company is developing masks that will bring a great help to everyone who has difficulty breathing with this new accessory.

HelloMasks are transparent and breathable masks that also have the advantage of being environmentally friendly.

For many people it is uncomfortable and sometimes even suffocating to have to wear the mask, especially indoors and for a considerable period of time. Many of the complaints are related to the difficulty in breathing, being a real relief when the person can remove the mask from the face. This condition means that many people simply do not use this personal protective equipment.

But now the solution to this problem may be close to being a reality.

Startup is developing transparent and breathable masks
The embryonic company HMCare, based in Switzerland and created by École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, aims to make the masks easier to use. The startup is in the stage of developing transparent and breathable masks that are also recyclable and biodegradable.

According to the information, the company has already managed to raise one million Swiss francs, about 930 thousand euros, to start the process of commercializing the masks.

The so-called HelloMask is manufactured using transparent biomass fibers, separated by 100 nanometers, and then joined in 3 layers that are flexible and breathable.

Thus, the masks allow the passage of air, but block the transmission of viruses and bacteria.

Those responsible for the project were inspired by the health professionals of the Ebola outbreak in 2015, and also in the various children's hospitals in the world. This is because the technicians performed their tasks in close collaboration with the patients, but they were unable to see their faces.

Thus, the startup's CEO, Thierry Pelet, challenged colleagues and a prototype was then created in transparent material that strictly respects the recommendations and rules of the medical context.
