Elon Musk: Starlink will cause ‘zero’ problems for astronomy

As you all know, our friend Elon Musk, intends to launch 42,000 satellites that will orbit some 550 km from the earth, forming a kind of mesh that will give internet coverage to the entire globe.

At the moment it has already sent four batches of 60 satellites and has permission to launch up to 12,000 satellites at the moment, but plans to launch the rest up to 42,000 in the future.

This obviously does not appeal to everyone, some scientists argue that the same result could be obtained with far fewer satellites in a farther orbit.

Others are concerned about the amount of space debris that can be generated that can negatively affect the launch of other satellites or spacecraft.

But the most pissed off, as would be expected, are the astronomers who fully affect them in the entire visual, interfering with other possible light sources.

Elon intends to calm them by saying that they will not affect astronomical observations at all, that they are doing a lot of experiments to correct possible interferences.

But for the moment, it seems, all he's doing is trying to darken them so they don't reflect ligh

But that is not the worst of all, China has already announced that it also wants to create its constellation of satellites, at the moment it is not known how many but, it seems that it already has financing for the first 500.

Europe for its part also has its own with the Galileo project and I suppose that Amazon, Google, Facebook, Netflix and other super companies will also want to have theirs.

I sympathize with astronomers and amateurs.
