3M plans to stop making hazardous PFAS

3M has recently pledged that they were going to stop making PFAS which are what is also known as 'forever chemicals' but the thing is that it is going to take them several years yet apparently until that takes place. They will stop making those chemicals starting in 2025. Why are they stopping in the first place? And if they are stopping for good reason then why are they waiting years still before more progress on that front will be made?

It shouldn't take that long to figure out how to stop putting these questionable chemicals out into the market through different products. Should it?

These chemicals have long been reported on and raised concerns with consumers around the U.S. and elsewhere. The manufacturing isn't expected to be phased out for another couple of years yet until the end of 2025. Is it too little too late?

Various studies have long investigated PFAS and posed questions about the safety and potential long-term effects. Some experts have previously suggested that the health risks might be broadly underestimated when it comes to the exposure and risks associated. They are said to be found just about everywhere so who knows how effective it is going to be in eventually taking them out of the market to some extent through manufacturing and so on.
