Booster Shot!

Covid-19 is really bad, but I've got the news that will make you glad

Social distancing, wearing masks, quarantines those are our tasks

Vaccine mandates, QR codes checked! Don't wanna catch COVID cause you'll get Rekt!

Booster Shot!

Today I got a Booster Shot.

I know what most of you ABitVaccineSkeptics are thinking,

"OMG that sonofabitch is crazy. It's unproven and it doesn't work, COVID is a myth, it's just a cold..."

Well, the booster shot I got was actually a TD (or maybe a DT) booster shot that adults are recommended to get every 10 years or so as a follow-up to DTaP or TDaP.

T - Tetanus
D - Diphtheria

I'm not sure what either of those two diseases is (they sound bad) or how to make a DIY vaccine (soju and red pepper powder?). So like a sheep, I blindly trust medical professionals and paid $50 for the privilege of having the doctor stab me with a needle and inject some kind of serum into me.

Do I gotta get my kid vaxxed?

Yup, I'll be welcoming a new baby to the household soon. I'm too lazy to research, so I'll just go for the whole schedule
https://www.kdca.go.kr/contents.es?mid=a30333000000

However, in my case, since the doctors in Korea can't check my immunization records from Canada and because when I got booster shots in Canada, the records weren't digitized, I had no clue what I got as a child. So I looked it up.

Using Google-fu, I found something that is close enough: https://vaccinechoicecanada.com/specific-vaccines/ontario-childhood-vaccine-schedule-1983-vs-2017/

Vaccines used in the 1983 Ontario schedule

DPT: diptheria, whole cell purtussis, tetanus vaccine, 3 vaccine combination

OPV: oral, live virus polio vaccine

MMR: measles, mumps (Urabe strain), rubella vaccine, 3 live virus vaccine combination

Seems reasonable enough. Don't want to take my chances with zero protection from any of that.

All 3 of these vaccines have since been withdrawn from the market due to safety concerns.

...Wait, what?

#Yikes

Goddammit, I knew I shouldn't have trusted medical science. What the fuck were my parents thinking?

Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) mandates that all children attending public and private schools be vaccinated with all vaccines listed under Regulation 645.

Seems like they didn't have a choice. Or did they?

Parents can however legally exempt their children from any or all vaccines for medical, religious or conscience reasons.

Well I don't have any medical reasons I can think of and my parents aren't particularly religious, so only one option left.

"conscience reasons"

Do my parents not have a conscience?

The 2017 ISPA amendment stipulates that parents must attend a ‘vaccine education’ session prior to being allowed to file an exemption affidavit.

I was vaxxed well before 2017 when they could just have admitted they "had a conscience" and avoided the whole mess.

I wonder if there are parents now who just cave in to the wishes of 'big pharma' and vaccinate their children just because they don't want to attend a "vaccine education" session.

It seems a bit like "gay conversion therapy" or "pro-life propaganda" or something. My body, my choice, am I right?

So that settles it, case closed. My parents gave me dangerous vaccines that are no longer on the market due to safety concerns because they don't have a conscience reasoning.

...but wait it gets worse

1983: TOTAL PreSchool 22 Vaccine doses In 6 Injections & 4 oral doses

2020: TOTAL PreSchool 47 Vaccines doses In 19 Injections & 3 oral doses

2020 GRAND TOTAL: Prenatal to Age 18 66 Vaccine doses

Hmm, tough choice between a few dangerous 1980s vaccines and a whole boatload of apparently 'safe' 2020 vaccines. The situation has gotten more complicated with all these new vaccines. What's a skeptic to do? Hmm I know, let's look up the ingredients.

What's in these?

In the first year of life, vaccinated babies will receive a total of 5875 micrograms(mcg) of aluminum and nearly 50 micrograms of mercury, both of which are known neurotoxins affecting brain development and function. Babies will also be exposed to various animal and human DNA, cell fragments and contaminants. The polysorbate 80 emulsifier can cross the blood brain barrier, ferrying any other ingredients into the brain.

5875 mcg of AL and 50 um of Hg? Animal DNA (vegans?!!!??) and other weird stuff I can't even begin to understand. Human DNA is the most concerning. I'm not a vampire or a cannibal.

Hold Up, What the fuck am I reading?

I just googled some shit and clicked on the first thing I could find that suited my needs. #research

Looks like it's from this organization: https://vaccinechoicecanada.com/

Half the website is questioning medical professionals with links to information of shit anyone can Google. None of it looks like passible undergraduate-level science research.

Proof of Brain

On second thought maybe it makes sense they are no longer using 1980s vaccines. Health and Safety and technology has come a long way since then. The risks are getting smaller and the protection is getting better. Seems obvious.

So why did my parents vaccinate me? Probably because it was the best shit available at the time to protect me from really dangerous stuff. Considering I haven't died or turned into a 5G radiation-emitting monster yet, looks like I'm good.

The list is obviously biased towards avoiding the vaccine. Most of those are odd facts meant to discourage you. Not one of those reasons comes close to reflecting the medical consensus regarding covid vaccines. I'd argue you don't actually need to know any of those things before getting a vaccine.

But wait there is more:

For reliable, up-to-date, science-based information on COVID-19

So apparently they are educating me about vaccines, but legally they cannot call it medical advice. Sounds like a great place to get reliable information.

My Case

I'm fully vaxed with the evil Phizer and have another 60 days before I'm required to get a booster shot to keep my vaccine pass active (3-6 months here).

For the record, I'm not passionate enough about this issue to debate with anti-vaxxers, your body your choice. I don't care if the government wants to ban you from the supermarket or airplanes, I prefer those places to be less crowded.

The government has been creeping on our freedoms for decades, if this is your redline issue, fine. At least I don't have to pay $50 for these vaccines.

I'm kinda on the fence about arguments for public health. On one hand, the world is overpopulated and why should I be inconvenienced because someone else is 'high risk'. However, human society is important, some people are unable to make appropriate medical choices (ex. minors and developmentally delayed people) and we are spending trillions of dollars on this pandemic and public safety.

It's kind of interesting to me how anti-vaxxers suddenly became so popular. I always thought of them as mostly harmless skeptics, but the covid-19 pandemic really put them into the spotlight and gave them far more attention than they should get.

It's interesting to read what the skeptics are thinking.

I'm not going to Tweet or POSH this or post it in a group because it's confusing the 'debate'.

Vaccines were done when we arrived at school around 1960 polio was one not sure of the others you got drops and jabs, each region varied. To the best of my knowledge it was just done. Our children were inoculated a little younger at pre-school age with follow up's.

We all survived these tried and tested methods, no comment with influenza shots since I only ever got one at around twelve years of age, sick as a dog I vowed never again and stuck by that!

New shots it really is up to the individual, my own feeling is one and no more.

Some jabs are required before travel to/from certain destinations, if you want to go take the shots or they won't issue you right of passage.

Personally it is questionable, many never get the opportunity and survive.

I've done the influenza vaccine a few times. Once was my final year in university and they were predicting it would be a bad year. I didn't really want to mess up that because of the flu. I've also taken it before when I have sick relatives and I need to visit them in the hospitals a lot.

These days I don't bother because with everyone wearing a mask and being extra cautious, I haven't been sick at all for 2 years.

The unusual one in Korea is Japanese encephalitis. It's mostly a legacy of the past in here, like malaria or TB. The vaccine is scheduled for kids because parents worry. I've heard it's quite bad if you catch it. I never bothered getting it because it's quite expensive for adults and it's from mosquitos, so I'm only putting myself at risk.

I'll get my booster shot in 2 months, Korea is really strict with vaccine mandates. My wife is an anti-vaxxer and she can't go to restaurants, theatres, museums, etc.

I like to make fun of her by quoting the silliest reasons to avoid it that I read on the Internet, usually the conspiracy theories lol. However, she's pregnant so I'm not going to pressure her to make medical decisions.

Sometimes we have to make individual decisions with what makes us comfortable, being pregnant I agree with her to wait as nothing is ever totally reliable whichever way we go.

Go safely with whatever decisions you make.
