SpaceX launches CRS 19 to the ISS [Live: 05.12.2019, 17:29 UTC] Second Attempt

First attempt was scrubbed due to high upper level winds.
Rockets are very skinny. Sudden changes in wind direction can break them.

SpaceX is launching the 19th resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) under the Commercial Resupply Services Contract (CRS) with NASA.

The booster is a Block 5 on its first flight and will land on a drone ship.

The cargo mission to the ISS will launch from SLC 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

This is the second mission where a Dragon capsule will be used for the third time.

Boosters on CRS missions usually land back on land. This time SpaceX will let the second stage coast after it deployed the Dragon capsule for a reignition test. Because of that test the Booster will have to do more lifting and therefore has not sufficient fuel for a boost back to land.

Cargo:

  • Payload mass is approximately 7,7 tons
  • A docking station that allows tools for leak detection to be stored outside
  • Research to test the spread of fire in microgravity
  • Japan's Hyperspectral Imager Suite is in the unpressurized trunk section of the Dragon.
