I like repurposing old hardware, although I'm not sure I'll be doing much with 32-bit systems going forward. I know I can still use some distros, but I'm lazy. Even the oldest Vista-era 64-bit systems can run lightweight mainstream Ubuntu flavors well enough to keep going still.

Yeah, it seems like 64-bit based systems will be usable with a modern operating system for a long time to come...in most cases anyway. This CPU is actually 64-bit (a Core 2 derivative). It just only has one core and the laptop itself is limited to having 4GB of RAM. A lot of early and/or low end 64-bit based systems originally shipped with a 32-bit OS, including this one.
