“Organic Eyes” -
JaiChai’s transformation into a post-human was slower than most.
It wasn’t that he hated new technology like some kind of 31st Century Luddite; it’s just that he never believed in “Fixing things that ain’t broke.”
This personal philosophy actually helped him avoid those early days of AI/Soma interphase defects, invasive brain audits, unpredictable reprogramming and total Neural Reboots.
Anyway, JaiChai’s eyes (and privately, his genitals too) were now the last vestige of his past humanity.
And he was damn proud of them!
They were 100% organic, composed of several generations of JaiChai’s own cloned and STE (stem cell-enhanced) tissue; harvested and fresh frozen way back in the year 300 SPH (Standard Post Human); or circa 2320 AD.
But alas, even with regular “bio refresh” surgery, the organs inevitably aged and cease being viable.
Nevertheless, JaiChai vows to enjoy his “real” eyes (and genitals) as long as he can - even if he has to wear his ancient, 25th Century glasses and mate daily with women hundreds of years his junior…
