If ... why ... ? - COVID edition

If the masks work, why 'six feet'?
If the 'six feet' works why the masks?
If they both work, why the lockdowns?
If all three work, why the rushed vaccine?
If the vaccine is safe, why the 'no liability' clause for Big Pharma?

If the masks work, why 'six feet'? -masks aren't perfect.

If the 'six feet' works why the masks? 6 feet isn't perfect either

If they both work, why the lockdowns?
There are many reasons. The most prevalent of which is to avoid hospitals becoming overwhelmed and to try to limit infection rates increasing because none of the above are perfect

If all three work, why the rushed vaccine?
But they don't because none of them are perfect. They all contribute to the larger whole

If the vaccine is safe, why the 'no liability' clause for Big Pharma? Now this one is a genuine thing. And I agree, it is most likely quite complex but probably basically boils down to a simple they don't want any liability 'just in case.' There will be many nuances to this and no doubt it can be seized upon to show that they are not entirely sure of their effectiveness. Dependant on your viewpoint this could either give you the ammunition to assume they are terribly unsafe or you could think it is a company holding a get out of jail free card.

The point I am trying to make is that this situation we are in is not as simple as if this works why do we have to do that. I don't think there are black and white answers.

"I don't think there are black and white answers." - for example: killing an innocent person for fun isn't unethical, because there are no "black and white answers".
