Thin Film Interference - timeline

Usually in my posts I talk lots of shit trying to bring something up... if you have been following my latest posts, you've probably seen previous two where I explained a bit of interference and light stuff... if not, either dig one of my posts or watch these videos from youtube, parts 1-4 include properties of light and Young's double-slit experiment explanation while parts 5-8 are explaining the thin film interference.

Basically, all the photos are presented chronologically, and some of them compared for better viewing experience. Click on the photo to see full resolution. Enjoy

SCIENCE IS BEAUTIFUL!

And another gift as a quote of the great Carl Sagan:

It is sometimes said that scientists are unromantic, that their passion to figure out robs the world of beauty and mystery. But is it not stirring to understand how the world actually works — that white light is made of colors, that color is the way we perceive the wavelengths of light, that transparent air reflects light, that in so doing it discriminates among the waves, and that the sky is blue for the same reason that the sunset is red? It does no harm to the romance of the sunset to know a little bit about it.

Those pictures are incredible. That quote by Carl Seagan is really interesting as well. I had never heard that before.
I have always been fascinated by the double slit experiment. It's crazy how things operate on a subatomic level.
