Heraclitus
He appears as another thinker who focuses on the problem of change. Change is contradictory, so he is a thinker who explains that contradiction, that is, the unity of opposites, creates the essence of reality.
He argued that change is in the form of a change in a quality to its opposite and suggested the reality of becoming as a qualitative change. The thesis that everything is in flux, however, creates only one direction of Heraclitus' philosophy. is the view. He abandoned the materialist monism of nations and interpreted it as the unity of order, in which things change with him. He argued that the world is in the sense of being a cosmos that can be discovered and understood by the human mind. In addition, Heraclitus defended rationalism by arguing that eyes and ears are bad witnesses.

Herakleitos

His Life and Works

Heraclitus, originally from Ephesus, lived between 540 and 480 BC. Heraclitus, who is descended from the family that was the official founder of Ephesus, is an aristocratic in almost every respect. The philosopher, who is an enemy of democracy, defended the aristocracy and aristocratic ideals as it can be understood from here. He said that if a person is a competent person, he is more valuable to him than ten thousand people. In this struggle, which envisions political life as a struggle, he is a philosopher who shows his closeness and hunger for the nobility. The egalitarian theories of the Democrats reject, look down upon the vast majority of humanity, despise the broad masses of the people, make fun of the commonplace, and have many statements exemplifying an attitude that despises democratic ideals. About 125 fragments of his works have survived to the present day.

Efes'in resmi kurucusu olan ailenin soyundan gelen Herakleitos hemen her bakımdan aristokrat biridir.

Union of Opponents War

The most important thesis of Heraclitus' metaphysics is undoubtedly the idea that conflict and war are the father of everything. According to him, war is the most important condition of existence or becoming. According to him, if there was no war, nothing would have existed, so the birth or existence of beings depends on the conflict of opposing forces. Heraclitus sees war as the creative universal force. He sees the war of opposites as a sine qua non condition of existence, aside from being a bad thing. He opposes the Pythagorean view of an ordered and harmonious universe.
According to Heraclitus, hot-cold, wet-dry are at war with each other. According to Heraclitus, Peace could not exist without war; The absence of an opposing balance of forces was bound to mean the disappearance of society in a civil war.
The elements that make up the traditional distinctions of day-night, summer-winter, war-peace, life-death, more or less can never exist on their own.

Herakleitos'a göre sıcak- soğuk, ıslak -kuru birbiriyle Savaş halindedir.

Flow Teaching

Heraclitus accepts that change is cyclical. The constant flow of things, that everything is flowing, has to be the most important truth about the Universe. According to Heraclitus, there is no permanence or stasis in the universe, everything changes, lives by burning and destroying. It is to say that you cannot enter the same river twice because the river flows. There is no object in the universe, no properties of the objects so that they remain the same. The only thing that does not change is the state of cosmic equilibrium, which is the result of this state of change.

Fire

Heraclitus, who is the philosopher of both unity and multiplicity, chose fire as the arkhe in order to express the concept of continuous flow. Unity consists of the First matter of the universe, the material substance from which everything in the universe is born. Heraclitus, who, like the Ionian and Elean thinkers, accepted that nothing can come out of nothing and therefore argued that the first matter is eternal, found this unity in fire.

logos

Fire burns with measure and goes out with measure. This law, according to which change takes place, calls the logic of change in question Heraclitus logos.

Psychology and Information Theory

According to Heraclitus, who sees man as a being consisting of a body and a soul, and who claims that the human soul is made of fire, this fire is actually a cosmic fire and is a fire that moistens as it becomes an individual soul.
Since what surrounds human beings is rational and conscious as a cosmic force, according to Heraclitus, people become intelligent beings by inhaling this divine mind when they breathe.
Heraclitus makes a distinction between sense experience and rational intuition or rational understanding in the context of the philosophy of epistemology.
According to Heraclitus, wisdom does not only come from a theoretical understanding of reality. When a person grasps the logo, he learns to live this understanding appropriately. So true wisdom comes from both theoretical and practical insight.
According to him, reaching the truth is telling the truth and living in accordance with nature or reason by following it.

Logos
