BYD Atto 3 built-in dash cam recording

One of the benefits of having a BYD Atto 3 is you don't have to manage a separate dash cam. With all the other cars I've owned so far, I've had to buy another dash cam, think about how to clip it onto the car (by suction cup or using the rearview mirror), think about how to get power to it (do lots of cabling etc), think about how to manage the recorded files (by buying SD cards etc). This was all done natively with the BYD Atto 3.

In some future videos I will showcase how these are managed within the BYD Atto 3. But basically from the infotainment system you can find all the files that were recorded by the dashcam as they were saved into the built in storage. There is a micro SD card slot as well. From the infotainment system you can pick which files you want to export - I did it by plugging in a USB and exporting the video files to the USB. You can only export 5 files at a time, each file was 2 minutes long.

So I joined 5 files together and put it in a video for you. You can see how clear it is and decide for your self what you think of the quality compared to other dash cams. I think it would show the speed, time etc more accurately than conventional dash cams as this data is all part of the car. Keep in mind I did have to import the raw footage into Premiere Pro, join them then export them. I also blurred out the part where it showed my car's VIN number. Enjoy!
