Business Insider hat eine tolle Grafik erstellt, die den neuen Coronavirus (nCov-2019 Wuhan) mit anderen großen Viren-Epidemien vergleicht.

Zu beachten ist, dass wir uns erst am Anfang der Coronavirus-Epidemie befinden und sich der Virus extrem schnell ausbreitet, vor allem in der am stärksten betroffenen Region Hubei, die unter Quarantäne gestellt wurde.

Andererseits scheint der Virus nach aktuellem Stand mit einer Todesrate von 2% nicht so gefährlich zu sein wie zum Beispiel die Schweinegrippe-Pandemie (H1N1) von 2009/2010 oder die Vogelgrippe H5N1, die eine Todesrate von über 50% forderte.

Zu bedenken ist auch, dass es aktuell alleine in Wien über 10,000 Grippe-Infizierte gibt und dass die Quarantäne- und Sicherheits-Mäßnahmen in China den neuen Coronavirus hoffentlich eindämmen und bald unter Kontrolle bringen können.
