There is not so much talk about electric boats as electric vehicles, however their development continues and several types of electric boats are already running on some routes.

Such is the case of the Ellen E-Ferry, the largest fully electric ferry in the world that has made its maiden voyage on a route with a length of 40 km.

The ship can transport 30 cars and 200 passengers and is powered by a battery of 4.3 MWh capacity, which avoids the emission of 2,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Ellen has 60 meters of total length and 13 meters of beam (width) and can navigate at a maximum speed of 15.5 knots (28 km / h).

It would really be a very important achievement to be able to get all ships to run on electric power because this would save the emission of millions of tons of CO2.
