Russia's Sechenov University Successfully Completes Trials of World's 1st COVID-19 Vaccine

The director of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology, Vadim Tarasov told Sputnik that Sechenov University successfully completed clinical trial for Covid-19 vaccines. According to the article the objective of the trial was to confirm safety of using the vaccine on humans and the director at Sechenov University, Alexander Lukashev claims it was done successfully. He also adds that further vaccine development plans and scaling up are already being worked on. However, what is not clear is if the vaccine actually works or how well it works.

It is really good news that there is success in development of the vaccine and to know that there are smart people out there working on real solutions to this crisis of Covid-19 and what it has caused globally. This coronavirus crisis definitely changed how we live, how we do ordinary things and created a new reality, caused needless losses of lives, stress, economic hardships, and much more.

This crisis also showed how incompetent our elected leaders are not only when it comes to preparedness to the crisis but also a response to it. Politicians probably added more into the chaos with mixed messaging, false narrative, or talking about things that they have no clue about. They created confusion among many with misinformation.

One of the obvious examples is messaging on importance of wearing masks. First, they kept telling masks are useless against the virus, to make sure people don't buy up all the masks and nothing is left for hospital workers, care-givers, etc. While they could have told the truth, they chose to manipulate people with lies. Now of course, everybody not only saying wear masks, but it is ordered to wear masks.

Simple lies like this created more mistrust in leaders and their ability to come up with proper solutions. This little news of some success, reminds me that there are smart people out there working on real solutions. That we can rely on science and medicine once again come to the rescue and making thing better or bring them back to normal.

Can this be the beginning of the end of Covid-19? I sure hope so. If not this vaccine, maybe another. 2020 has been difficult for millions globally. It is due for some positive changes.
