Neuralink's Remarkable Mind-Meld Of Humans And Computers

in #neuroscience2 years ago

Yes, Elon Musk is at it again. Of course his brain implant company, Neuralink, has been out there for awhile so that's not the big news.

The big news is that he says by the end of this year they'll have human brains connected to computers with his implant chip.

Neuralink recently announced that they've successfully conducted tests using a rat and a monkey who were able to control a computer! No photos of that though, they're pretty secretive about their operations.

Of course, researchers have controlled computers with a person wearing a skull cap before like this one:

But not with an implant connected to brain neurons. To do that, Neuralink has created threads which are ten times thinner than a strand of hair.

Each thread carries 32 electrodes and the operation takes such precision that they had to build a robot to perform it. It can place 32 threads inside the brain so that's 3,072 electrodes.

Here's a photo of the surgical robot they built:

This is some sci-fi stuff ain't it?

The first goal is a very altruistic sounding one: to help paraplegics to gain control of body movement and to help restore degenerated brain function in Alzheimer's and dementia patients, and hopefully help with Parkinson's and ALS.

Also the technology could be used to help repair brain injuries. The medical uses are endless and exciting.

The chip itself is already small:

Beyond that though, Neuralinks wants to be able to use the implants so people can connect to the internet. Can you imagine having the knowledge of the internet in your head?

Here's what the current model looks like, about the size of a hearing aid:

Will you have to get virus protection so your brain doesn't get hacked? Will brain-hacking become a favorite tool of criminals?

Will people be able to instantly communicate without having to type out their thoughts? Will big companies insist on all their employees being implanted so they'll be super smart?

And if you DON'T get implanted you'll be a hopeless dunce? lol.

Is this a sign of the End Times?

Most Bible scholars believe we're living in the End Times so a good question would be: Will God allow the joining of computers and humans and to what extent? Total bionic beings? Will He allow clones?

Here's Elon Musk in case you don't know him. To some he's a genius, to some he's a brilliant futurist and visionary. To some he's a scam artist and con man.

One thing is clear...he isn't limited by what is possible today! All his ventures develop new technology for the future.

By the way, Neuralinks is now hiring engineers in case you are one!

My oh my, the times they are a'changin! They're already talking about combining AI and Quantum Computing into this new implant technology!

Thanks for stopping by folks, God bless you all!

Really exciting news, if they really are successful, the applications on neurological diseases would improve the life of millions.

My grandma has Alzheimer's and even if she doesn't meet the criteria for it or it takes too long before they figure it out, just knowing that next generations won't have this terrible disease brings me joy.

Thanks for sharing @janton

Howdy sir siucatti! I agree, the medical advances with this are amazing. Sorry to hear about your gramdmother, both of my wife's parents have it and it's a nightmare as you know. Thanks so much for commenting!

Yeah, you enjoy all that. We are the borg. You will be assimilated. Your uniqueness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile. LOL!

Howdy squirrelbait! Oh, this DOES remind me of that! lol..have you done a report on this company of his? Who knows what they have planned, kinda like DARPA.

Yes, this is all part of the Brain Initiative. Elon Musk is just a front guy and certainly no genius. Look into his Mom. His family. His family is in the club so to speak. He was born into this crap. He's just the PR face. The face you are allowed to see. Just like so many others.

Howdy tonight squirrelbait! that makes sense, who is the Brain Initiative?

LOL Naturally I have a video answer, LOL!

I'm pretty sure you saw these. I did several videos on this topic. If not, enjoy!!! Gosh I can't believe how many videos overall I have done the last two years. As you saw, I am writing more thanks to you.

I think both the videos and written posts are great but sometimes the written ones can be an advantage because of the time factor. Thanks for these links!
Hey have you done any research on Justin Sun? lol.

You are welcome!

Regarding our Mr. Sun....No actually. I heard a bit about the situation here with steemit but honestly, I don't care. I only use this because I have it and our accounts can not be deleted so why not use it. It gives me a voice, albeit a small one given the audience size. Still, I enjoy talking to people all around the world and I do that here so it's kinda worth it to me at this point. I still spend the majority of my time on Weku and Bitchute. I just enjoy them more. So much less drama.

If he improves the place, more power to him.

Yeah I agree. You mean nothing happens on Weku? People here would be bored with that! lol.

lol..where you at? And what does that username mean?

Very good. I didn't know Buffalo was the city of dreams. I suppose you run the joint?

Yup! We will become cyborgs controlled by AI computer!

It would be great technology to help so many people with handicap.

As far as implanting the internet in my head. No way, I have enough crazy stuff floating around Up there. 😂

Well you know they'll be looking for people to test this out on, to implant them with these chips. I was wondering if you were going to volunteer but I guess not. lol.

The technology of the future sounds interesting Cowboy. I think we are becoming more like the aliens with a bigger brain and less body strength. 😂

That seems to be the direction we're moving that's for sure. Not sure if I like it. lol. People already think they're smarter than anyone else, can you imagine how arrogant they'll be with the knowledge of the internet in their heads?

Excellent work on Steemit platform

Howdy there jamilderoj! Thank you, I am glad you liked the post. Would you volunteer to be one of the first humans to get these implants?
