Aleksa's Book Review: Evolutionary Dynamics of Organisations

I definitely need to stop with the massive academic books. This one was an absolute chore to get through, and didn't really give that much in insight compared to how much it took in time and effort. I understand how somebody could use this for their masters thesis, but it's utterly inapplicable in any business setting I've ever found myself in.

The book explains a Hegelian system of thesis and antithesis synthesising a new solution, altered by a function of natural selection among new syntheses being generated by this process. It's a neat enough idea, but nowhere near requires this amount of text backing it up.

Some interesting thoughts on organisational growth with parallels to living organisms and tribes is given, with nary a mention of the meme concept as a tool or measure to this end. I'm not impressed by the size and bibliography of this massive tome, but nonetheless acquiesce to it's overbearing power in the field of organisational theory merely because it mentions everything about the field.
