BANGER OF THE WEEK: Virus of the Mind

There aren't many books that I listen to several times over, not even my book of the year in 2018. However, this book I had to absorb completely and fully, as the ideas contained herein are simply mind-blowing, and I don't use those words lightly. Sure, I'm young and haven't really read that much, but I'm more than blown away by this book.

Written by the inventor of Microsoft Word, the book explains the various systematisations, analyses, and groupings of memes starting from the first use of the word by Richard Dawkins. The explanation of selfish genes and selfish memes is simple to understand, and explains one of the most fundamental truths of the universe we live in.

It's difficult to focus on any one field of the book: the writing is crisp and just humorous enough, the bibliography is thorough and useful, examples are relevant. It never condescends or becomes too self-conscious, while hitting every point with surgical precision.

Other notable ideas regard a 27-item grid of meme types by 3 different criteria, the religion of the state and family, and how to program oneself and others in the art of memetics. I can't speak highly enough of the book, and can only humbly suggest that all people I know read this absolute masterpiece. A BANGER OF THE WEEK.
