Macro World: Cattail

Cattail.jpg

At the edge of the lagoon, the cattail stands proud overlooking its aquatic domain. Wet mud is ideal to develop its racemic body. A long stems holds the flowering body. Female flowers organize themselves in a long sausage-like appendage, while the male flowering spike is right on top. I'm pretty sure Gaia was drunk on mead the day she created the cattail. In the wind, the cotton fluff carries the tiny seeds across the air. What an elegant way to disperse oneself. No need to spend energy in the game of love. Instead, just thrust yourself to the wind and blow.

I love cattails! I photograph them all the time. I've never done a macro of one, though! Very nice.

I see them all the time, but this the first time I've paid close attention to the details. The macro led me to want to learn more about them. Such odd plants! :)

I'm inspired by the angle the photo gives. Such a pretty shot ❤️

Thank you @ykdesign. 😀 Macros are fun because one gets to pay attention to the little details and a new world opens up.
