Someone (not me) bought a working RV for $500 USD in the USA (2022.01.18)

(Edited)

At the time of the writing of this post (on 2022.01.18) one month ago (on 2021.12.10) someone bought a working RV for $500 USD. I saw the first eight minutes of this 54-minute video, and the car is working. And the stove and the heater in it is also working. Of course the car interior itself is dirty, but for a price like this, it is a small wonder that it even works.

By the way, I live in Hungary (central Europe), and if anyone have an RV for a price like this, then I am interested in it.

Currently I can offer around $900 HBD, if anyone is interested in making a deal in cryptocurrency.

Maybe I am searched at the wrong places, but currently I find that the cheapest RVs are around $3000 USD in my country (in Hungary).

If you have a useful/helpful tip or a deal offer, then please write it in the comments.

Thank you very much.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

could be used for "Breaking Bad" Hungary version !

I heard that "Breaking Bad" is a very popular TV series in the USA, but I have not watched any episode of it so far. I looked it up, and I see that it is a drama TV series about a teacher, Walter, who turns to a life of crime, because he is underpaid, and have stage-three lung cancer. Maybe I will watch one or more episodes from this TV series. Being underpaid is true for me too.

But I do not want to do crime, so I will not be the "main character" of the "Hungarian Breaking Bad". Maybe, if they would actually make something similar (I mean a TV series, or a movie), then I would try to "play" it (acting), but I have not tried acting in my life so far, but maybe I would even enjoy doing it.

ha ha, definitely do not become a Breaking Bad character in real life. Worth a watch, and they also have another related series called "Better Call Saul" which happens before "Breaking Bad".

Just a thought, you can often find box vans (delivery vans) for much cheaper than RV prices, which could easily be converted to a small living space.

I also saw a few, but most of those are not really in a good shape, and they need to be modified (things to be added) (bed, desk, chairs, heater, stove, etc) to be able to live in them, and with the price of those things, the final price can be even higher than with an RV. Of course I am constantly checking the local markets and the advertisements, so maybe I will see something good.

There's definitely the cost of modification to consider, but you could basically 'camp' in the space and add in the modifications over time. Of course, that will either require a hefty investment, or a lot of diy work, but there are also a lot of advantages to custom-building your space, especially if you plan on keeping it long term.

Speaking of long term, box vans will also usually have a much more durable outer shell. Oddly, many RVs are not really built to withstand winters, and won't last more than a handful of seasons exposed to snow.

I don't know what your situation is, just throwing out ideas for you. I've also been looking for the right deal on an RV for a while :D

I think it's not cost-efficient to buy something then spend a lot fot modifications. I think that the equipment should either be bought as a finished product with little to no modification, or assembled from scratch.

I give you some !PIZZA and some !LOLZ.

One doesn't HAVE to spend a lot on modifications. I have the skills to build an RV cheaper than I could buy, because I have no labor costs, and can make a lot of the necessary components from free scrap. Building your own RV in a box van (or other modified cargo space) is essentially assembling it from scratch... The factories that build RVs do not build the truck frames either.

Thank you for giving your feedback to my reply to @xplosive's comment. I hope you can help @xplosive with your skills, such that he can would spend less both for buying an RV and maintaining it.

I'm always happy to help out where I can! I have a lot of automotive related content (and a little RV related content) in my photo archives, but I backed off those posts a bit because there didn't seem to be much of an audience for it here. Now that my HP is at a place where I care even less about rewards, I'm going to start working on them again. I figure if I get enough content up, it'll start drawing in interested people! Thanks for the extra tokens!

@xplosive would be happy to know that you are going to share your knowledge about RVs to him, since buying and maintaining an RV (which used to be a sailboat) is one of his life goals "to get out of financial discrimination".

Since you loved the Hive Engine tip tokens I shared, here are some more !BEER, !PIZZA, !WINE, !ALIVE, !PGM, and !LOLZ with !LUV.

It is an interesting idea, but I am not sure how "easily" this could be achieved.

'Easy' is a relative term... I've been doing this kind of work for decades, so it's easy for me. Even if you have no experience, there are 'easy' to learn from videos on YouTube. This kind of work is more intellectually demanding than physically demanding.

Maybe. After over a decade of tutoring people in a variety of subjects, I don't use the word "easy" lightly. Also, a pet peeve of mine was when my daughter was growing up and the other ballet moms wanted to save $$$ by sewing the "easy" costumes. They aren't easy when you cannot sew.

I have found "easy" to be a relative term. My father is a pure mathematician who can "easily" understand concepts most people cannot fathom, but he literally cannot do a simple kitchen cabinet repair. He is baffled by it!

You could probably get a van at a similar price point from auto auction services such as Copart. I've heard that you could find a lotta gems out on their yards for cheap.

I checked Copart. The users have to pay at least $59 USD annually for a basic membership to be able to bid on auctions. I check other options. Maybe there is one or more free auction websites in my country (Hungary). But to be honest, I am not really a fan of "blind bidding". I mean bidding without seeing the actual product. It can be risky.

An interesting feature of Copart is the fact that you can actually come out on their yards and check things out for yourself. I'm not sure if they have what you are looking for exactly, but they do sell a lot of vehicles ranging from motorbikes all the way up to semis, with boats as well.

I wish we had Copart in Saudi Arabia. I've seen ordinary people on youtube go out in these yards jumpstarting cars and checking if they run, bid on them, and drive 'em home. Not all of them are good cars, some are wrecked, some have moderate damage, some are mechanically totaled, but many are there cause of hail damage that doesn't even affect the way they drive.

I would wonder how well it is working for that price. Perhaps not very well. I hope you find something that suits you. I think it is good to visualize and keep an open mind, but be cautious. The right opportunity will come along for you, I think, and it might not be exactly what you expect or in the timelime that you hope. But if you are patient and diligent, I think you could be very successful.

I am looking at any/every possible housing solution. I was homeless in the past multiple times, so I know what it is like to be homeless from experience, and I do not want to be homeless again. I think that no one deserves to be homeless. Everyone deserves something to live in it.

Thank you for the support, and thank you for the tokens too.

Being homeless is a terrifying prospect, and yet there are so many homeless people. I sincerely hope that never happens for you again.
