The Sweet Smell Of Rain (And A Brief Scientific Explanation For It)

Good evening from Romania, fellow HIVE users and dear readers outside of HIVE! For today's last special post on my behalf here on my HIVE blog, I decided to write a bit about the sweet smell of rain.

It's been raining today in my hometown and throughout the time it rained I took a nap. When I woke up, I woke up in the sweet smell of rain. It felt (and it still feels) quite refreshing.

I wonder if you like the sweet smell of rain after the rain has fallen and if you had pleasant experiences with it. I certainly had and I am very grateful for this. Not only this, but the rain has a very cathartic and rather therapeutical effect on the soil, so to put it. Unfortunately, many humans tend to neglect nature and impact it negatively, be it in the city or at countryside. Hence, the soil is polluted. When rain comes by, it helps nourish the soil and refresh it as well as refresh us, humans, as well, through the great smell that we can perceive from the soil afterwards.

Moreover, this smell emanated by rain on the soil is produced by a chemical compound known as 'geosmin' which is in turn produced by a bacteria known as 'genus Streptomyces'. Source for this information: Science Alert.

This sweet smell of rain is what made my day today, especially given the fact that it's late May and warmer, hot temperatures start to kick in, so to put it. And I for one am not that fond of above average hot temperatures. Nor is anyone else like-minded I think.

Anyway, I truly hope you liked my brief article on the sweet smell of rain and what actually triggers it, briefly explained through science above. Thank you so much for stopping by, for your precious time as well as for reading this post. All the best, much health, and God bless you!

Bonus: a great song on rain by The Beatles

Many blessings your way, all the best once again, much health, take care, stay safe, and, just as in the words of Ringo Starr, peace and love your way! Great peace and a lot of love your way, I might add! Have an excellent and most peaceful day along with your close/dear ones! Namaste and great peace your way once again! 😊🙏✌️☮️

Also, please don't forget to keep praying for Ukraine and its people! Much love, blessings, and peace to Ukraine and the Ukrainians as well! May the war stop very soon! 💛💙🇺🇦

P.S.: Thank you very much for all your support, readership, attention, precious time, appreciation, re-blogging, and feedback here on HIVE. 😊

Lightening also produces a fine smell. Lightening breaks part oxygen and nitrogen compounds producing ozone, nitrates and other compounds. It also seems to pull some of the pollution from the skies as well. Rain definitely improves the atmosphere.

The world always feels better after a good storm.

Dear @vikthor , It's surprising that you can smell the rain . You probably have an excellent sense of smell.😄

I don't necessarily think it's surprising. Everyone can, I suppose. Or almost everyone, if you have a normal sense of smell and no physical illnesses associated with this sense. All the best, have a great day, and God bless you!
