Know Thyself

The wisest humans are those who realize most accurately who they are: Bacteria that evolved into complex organisms, from fish to amphibians, lizards to birds, mammals to apes who evolved bipedalism, speech, language, and consciousness which gave us stories, society, religion, government, and technology—all of civilization. Yet despite civilization and technological progress, we are all still driven by emotions and feelings genetically programmed through hundreds of thousands of years of evolution.

That is who we are. A DNA-based life form, like any other, that evolved the phenomenon of consciousness, which allowed us to imagine and create stories. All technology and civilization came from that. Technology came from looking at a rock and imagining that it could be chiseled and sharpened into a tool. Religion came from looking at the stars in the night sky and wondering what they were, and wondering where we came from, and what happens after we die. That is who you are. Humans are life is evolution. Know thyself.
