And The Flies Have It!

This week we watched the VP “debate” between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. It consisted mainly of the two candidates blaming one another’s party and dodging anything that resembled a question for the entire ninety frustrating minutes.

This just drove the point home that these two parties should be working for us and trying to get us out of the mess we’re in instead of fighting one another. I don’t even know how the event could even be called debates anymore. It would be much more effective to give each candidate an equal amount of free TV time to lay out their plans to the American people, infomercial-style.

The star of the entire ninety minutes was a fly that landed on Mike Pence’s head and stayed there for a whole two minutes. Before it left his head fly memes were swarming social media. Mike Pence will be forever known as the guy the fly landed on during the debates. What a potent metaphor for the state of politics in America. Looks like the flies have it. Horrible pun, I know.

Dad Joke Incoming!

We can all use a little more humor in our lives, right? I remember a few years back when we were all having a tough time on the once beloved blockchain-based blogging platform that begins with “S” I ran a regular humor series called, Cringe Worthy Joke of the Week. I think it’s about time to revive that little tradition. So here we go:

Ronald Reagan was visiting England and traveling in a horse drawn coach with the Queen Elizabeth II. They were smiling and waving to the crowds when one of the horses broke wind violently and the two were forced to continue acknowledging the crowds with wrinkled noses enduring a terrible smell.

“I do apologise Mr President” said the Queen to which Reagan replied: “That’s quite alright your majesty, I thought it was the horse.”

Book Update

Now that the manuscript is in the very capable hands of Lubosh, my book designer, I can focus on marketing and other aspects of the book launch.

Most of you probably remember the massive success of CryptoKitties a few years back. That phenomena sparked a deluge of tokenized art being offered for sale on sites like SuperRare that allow artists to auction off their tokenized digital art using the Ethereum blockchain.

This made me think, Why should the artists have all the fun? and started brainstorming about how this same method could be potentially used by authors to tokenize an entire book. Yesterday I reached out to @opheliafu and @roelandp to share the idea and get some valuable feedback.

As far as I can tell, it doesn’t look like a book has ever been tokenized, but I’m excited to say it looks like it may be possible. If all goes as planned I’ll be auctioning off a very limited run of 10-to-25 autographed, tokenized copies of Mindful Moments. More on this to come.

That’s all for now.

What’s your plan for the weekend?

With Gratitude,

Eric Vance Walton

Very valid point.

Some people predicted Private companies have more power than governments.

I think corporations, in large part, control our government. If we can decentralize the money supply and push for greater adoption that will be a huge step towards freedom. It's happening before our eyes but digital state-sponsored currencies will be a huge threat to this because they'll force governments to limit citizens' access to crypto because they'll see it as "competition" in the race to being the digital global reserve currency. China is way ahead of the US but the US is only 1.5 years or so from rolling out the digital dollar.

It's definitely happening. Isn't it great to be in the forefront of the change?

It is damn funny and that's what I even keep watching. I guess the debate venue is outside that's why fly is chanced to land on his head. He would be more popular as you said, that is what would make him popular. The man that fly land on his head during debate

That is a pretty cool idea to tokenize the book. I hope you folks can figure something out to move forward with it. It would be the first of it's kind. I didn't watch the debate. I know how I am going to vote, so I don't see much point. I agree with pretty much all of what you said anyway. I think an infomercial would be the better idea.

Thanks! I'm really psyched about it. We've figured out a few ways to do it but now we're not sure if any of the sites will accept it as an auction item since it's not technically art. I think the UK uses that infomercial format. They give each candidate an equal amount of free airtime. It's much better than how we do it here.

Hello there my friend, been a while. All I can say is that politics is a a really dirty game. Some of these so called debates are just political stunts and some of them are probably friends behind our backs and grabbing a beer together while their supporters fight everytime.

Back to your book, well no book has ever been tokenized at least not to my knowledge it would be a new one. I'm glad the book is coming on well quite nicely. Hopefully I'll be looking forward to seeing how it goes

As for my weekend I'm back to college, the stress and the hassle so, I'm taking it easy and resting my head

You're correct there, politics is the dirtiest game of them all.

Thanks! There are so many hurdles to get over to offer the book this way. We'll see if it works out.

Enjoy your few days of rest, my friend. Any updates on the house renovation?

Hahaha. Reagan and the queen joke was good. What good news about the possibility of tokenize the book, Eric. It would give more publicity to the launch. As for the debate, I wish that at least the opposition candidates had the opportunity to express their ideas on all national television channels. By the way, this week there has been a commotion because the famous Russian vaccines, against covid, arrived in Venezuela and they are thinking of giving it to the population. Obviously, people are scandalized and reluctant. It is said they can decree it is mandatory. It will dawn and we shall see. A nice weekend for you and your family.

You have to love a good 'dad joke' every now and then. 😀I'm not sure if I'll be able to tokenize it just yet. We have it figured out technically, I think but I'm not sure if any of the platforms that allow artists to sell art will allow me to sell the book because it doesn't fit their criteria. If there's a will, there's a way. Wow, I hadn't heard about the Russian vaccine being sent to Venezuela! We're going to be very cautious about the vaccine when it's available here. They usually take 2-3 years to develop them and we're a little nervous about something developed on such a faster time scale. I hope you enjoy your weekend. We're getting the last of our warm weather and it'll be turning a lot colder next week.
