There are countless apps in the app store that market themselves as play to earn games or platforms. Millions of dollars in gift cards and money has been sent out to the tens of millions of users around the world who play these games and use these apps regularly.

Now there are popular mainstream games that are incorporating themselves into those pay to earn apps too, giving users the opportunity to earn something for their time playing.

When it comes to choosing between playing a game and not earning, or playing the same game and earning something, it seems like a simple choice.

It's no surprise that these sorts of opportunities are appealing to millions of people who are interested in joining the fun.

Sooner or later these games and apps are going to be the most popular options in the app store and for some niche spaces they are already on top, such as fitness tracking apps.

Pay to earn games are helping to boost interest for NFTs and cryptocurrency too.

It offers an easy and fun way for people to learn about cryptocurrency and start playing around with it in their own daily routine. Numerous apps have been created that help to create that bridge and make that introduction with gamers and cryptocurrency.

For those popular games out there today that have the numbers but who aren't enabling the same monetization opportunities for their players, they might sooner or later have to embrace that gaming style if they want to stay competitive.

Hundreds of billions

The gaming market is worth hundreds of billions and though cryptocurrency and NFT projects might be growing there is still a lot of potential yet for more games to go this route in bringing new opportunity to players to earn.

Play To Earn Games

With many games that people still play today and enjoy playing, the users aren't getting any monetization opportunities in-return. This has quickly been changing though as those other games have grown in demand and there is only so much attention to go around which means games that want to stay relevant need to stay competitive if they want users to choose them over the many others that are out there.

I've been a gamer since I was a kid, and play2earn has really changed things for me. I will no longer pay to play a game, and I'd prefer to earn when playing a game these days. I dont mind investing into a play2earn game - but it really is a changed landscape. I wonder how it will change things. It'll either take off if the economics keep working, or die of if they dont.
