Production Starts on First Solar Car

Production has reportedly started on the world's first solar car that is being produced by a Dutch startup company. It is an advancement that some suspect might have been able to come along much sooner but regardless of any interests that might allegedly be in the way of preventing or working against such progress, here we are now seeing multiple alternatives unfold in the market.

The car is expected to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and there are already many pre-orders, at least 150 from customers who are interested in the solar powered car.

Imagine being able to drive a car maybe for months before you might need to charge it.

It will come with an expensive price tag at first though, who knows how quickly we might see that technology trickle down into becoming something that's much more affordable.

There are also other high-price car plans that are possibly going to provide people with the opportunity to sail right over traffic jams in the future too, what will the future of travel look like?

With the many efforts to crackdown on non-electric vehicles and the efforts being put forth to create suitable alternatives it might only be a matter of time before we see the landscape change drastically, including with more flying car opportunities around the world.

I remember working on solar powered cars back in college.
basically, they were 4 wheeled bicycles that couldn't really get up to freeway speeds.

Currently, if i wanted to charge my car with solar panels, i would need about 6x the size of the car parking spot for normal daily driver usage numbers. Soooo, a really big carport, for one car to charge.

I haven't seen the solar panels get all that much higher in efficiency... but hey, if you live in Phoenix, AZ, and park outside, it could save half your charging bill. (your mileage may vary, not available in all states...)

That's the thing with technology, once it gets out there the problem-solving starts in earnest. I'm sure if this proves at least moderately successful, there will be other companies reverse-engineering the tech and probably improving upon it. It will obviously take some time, but as I said, with the speed of technology these days, in a few years they may just be able to ask Chatgbt for the answers. :-)

Probably in the future (a few decades later) it will be affordable to most people. Especially if someone plan to buy it used. Time will tell. Nowadays you can often buy a 15-20 years old used petrol car for around $1000 USD. Or even for less.

Since so many European nations have set super-tight schedules around the end of internal combustion engines, I guess it only follows that a lot of resources and brainpower are being thrown at coming up with alternatives.
