The end looms - Landrover Defender Lego Build: Five

avatar

I've been building tonight...My Lego. My wife was working late and so I took the opportunity to get to work on the last phase of my Landrover Defender build - It's not quite finished but is very close after the four hours I spent on it tonight. (I snuck in a pizza tonight too...She caught me out though so I'm not feeling that clever.)

You may have read my last post and that I have a missing part Lego has now sent to me. I probably should have waited for it to arrive but I didn't...Couldn't. Yeah, I'm a big kid, and therefore a little impatient. I built tonight right up to the part where that missing piece was required then set that sub-assembly aside, the roof racks actually, and went on with other bits and pieces.

Tonight the car is pretty-much complete minus the roof rack and a few accessories that mount to it. Once that part arrives I will have about one hour of build time to complete and the vehicle will be totally complete and ready to hit the trails in the great outdoors!

Here's a sneak-peak of the vehicle as it stands now. Pretty sexy huh? Yeah, you know it! It's pretty big too now it's all done...Looks tough.

I have been thinking about the video-shoot I want to do and figure I'll use my GoPro mounted to the vehicle and also on the ground and make it look like the car is actually off-roading...I have a few ideas to get some cool video footage but will have to see how it turns out. I don't want to set the bar too high...Better that you think it'll be leshit rather than legit so that if it only comes out looking average you'll be like...Yeah, wasn't the best, but was ok." 😃

Anyway, I was excited about getting it [almost] completed and once those wheels went on...Well, I couldn't help but grab a photo to share with you guys.

For those in the States, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving...What is the correct greeting for it? Happy Thanksgiving? I guess that sounds as good as any. I hope y'all have a great day with family and friends and whatever else you do on the day...Eat turkey right? For those heading into Friday...Happy Friday!

Take care y'all, and don't forget to engage on steem...Engagement is appreciated by all, so share the love guys!

Looks pretty great, will there be sadness to take it all apart? :)

Well, I'm not sure that's going to happen. I might keep it together and look at it a bit first. (OK, play with it!) 🤣

I think with a little planning, the videos will be great. A few close ups, some slow mo.

Yep, that's the plan. My Crawford forest probably.

Hey, @galenkp.

These builds have been quite involved, and they don't look like typical block Lego pieces, either. Almost more like the plastic models I used to build back 'in the day.' :)

I suppose the most important part is the build itself and the enjoyment you derive, along with the satisfaction that comes from a job well done, and the prize of being able to stare at the finished product for as long as you want (okay, play with it. :)

re: proper greeting

Happy Thanksgiving works. I was hearing others say and then adopted it myself, too, Have a good Thanksgiving. Seemed appropriate, given that the holidays (except for Halloween, oddly), can be more stressful than happy for some people. I keep running into people who are less excited about family and food than I am, but I guess it's statistically impossible for everyone to be happy, right?

If all goes according to plan, we will have, for the first time, four generations of my family together in one place. My dad and youngest sister are coming up and my grandchildren will be there (along with the rest of us in between), so precedent setting going on here.

I guess we'll see how that goes. This is the kind of event when typically the granddaughter (she's the oldest—at two and a half) will be overstressed or tired or whatever and end up in a puddle of her own tears. We'll just hope that doesn't happen, or that we can all have a good time regardless. :)

It's Lego Technic so yes, slightly different to the blocks you may be familiar with. It's been enjoyable and will be good to have it all complete...Once that final part arrives.

Thanksgiving sounds good but yes, I've heard its that time of the year families gather to argue and fight Seen that in a few movies. I'm sure some are happy though and hope you have a great time with your family.

Ha this is great. If only the hubbys series 3 was that easy to put together! You should defo get some off road shots on that. 10 odd photos in a post would be cool 😜😜

I'm going to try and get some good shirts of it outside in a off-road scenario. Will be fun to do I think.

Cars in real life can be a pain in the ass...Lego ones too I guess. Hope the Series 3 is kind to him.these days it's difficult to work in modern cars much.. Too much tech. I lift the bonnet of my 200 Series Landcruiser and I'm like...Yeah nah, and close it again..(sometimes)

Lol. Yeah it is more fun to do older cars. As he said, it is like giant lego! It is the body work he is not enjoying!

Ah yes, body work. Not good, although it's what people will initially judge the vehicle on, so it's important I guess.

People tend to value things more on what they see, than what's inside these days.

Hope he battles on and gets it done.

Howdy sir galenkp! That's such a great looking, macho looking machine. Or model. Do you know how many hours you have in that thing so far?
